  1. Thanks so i guess the other part of y tube is simply a breather iain
  2. in the process of doing the plugs and air filter, having taken the tank off (98 carb) i have got a small bore Y shaped hose that goes onto the tank and then goes under the bike, but i still have one part of this Y pipe that doen't seem to connect to anything, any ideas??? is it simply a breather for the tank/overflow?? Oh and the plugs are easy to do with tank off, the original honda plug tool, 1/4 sq drive 10mm socket. thanks iain
  3. Thanks i will try and source some over here, was hoping the exchange rate may ease my pain. Iain
  4. i was just wondering if the colur code NH359M/NH359B from a 98 bird was the same as the later 99/00 models, can anyone confirm this please, mines a uk bike 98 and i need some panels after an off and have seen some on ebay over your side. Cheers Iain
  5. hairdryer or hot air gun (lowish setting) and then clean it up with wd40 or brake cleaner to remove the sticky residue. Iain
  6. No need to drill on the pyramid that i got, i was just careful not to do the screws up too tight, hmmm who do we know here that likes doing that............
  7. I have a pyramid too, great fit, looks excellent and doesn't touch the underbody even 2 up with ful luggage. Iain
  8. I wonder if kitchen foil would have the same effect..........
  9. The 160 mile mark is about what i get on my 98 carb i then fill up asap when the light comes on
  10. In the UK it isn't recommended why i don't know, personally i use semi synth and change once a year or 3k miles,
  11. Had exactly the same thing happen to me last weekend on a quick trip to france, got to the hotel bike wouldn't start at all, turned out to be the reg rec, it toasted the battery too. So new battery in i can run without the headlight the rest of the weekend and new reg rec went in today, i get 14.05 volts with headlamp on and 14.5 with it off this is at 5k rpm, dealer says that's spot on. Iain
  12. If the tyre is new remount if he has done a few miles i would put a new one on.
  13. Mine are tight, looks like you got a problem. Iain
  14. Be warned there has been problems in the UK with Avons for the XX, bad batch or something, guy on ixxra had them fitted last week said the bike rode like shit and ended up with the rear blowing out after only 100 miles. he has gone back to bridgestones. Iain
  15. Thanks a lot that was the kind of feedback i was looking for, DID it is then. Iain
  16. Anyone got an opinion on these?? It's coming out a bit cheaper than DID set and i am not sure which to go for. Iain
  17. Thought it wasn't recommended for the bird to run on fully synth?? just my 02 Iain
  18. I would thoroughly recommend give stuff i have the 3 box setup on my xx and wingrack with the indicator kit. Works a treat i use the bike all the time now with 1 box on the back makes it so versatile just being able to chuck all your shit in the box rather than having a tank bag or rucksack. Iain
  19. I have always thought the reason for changing chain and sprockets is that new chain on old sprockets causes excessive wear on the new chain, because the the old chain and sprockets have worn into each other (if that last comment makes sense). Iain
  20. So what happens if someone trips over and edging stone or something on your sidewalk that you made and breaks their arm, who they gonna sue???? you???? just curious, never heard of that, in the uk it's the local council that does this and they are the ones that get sued. Iain

    MILEAGE?

i get around 160 miles before the light comes on, so yours is normal. iain
  22. I would say it's normal my 98 doesn't get much above the bottom of the gauge when moving summer or winter, when in traffic it goes about half way or just a little over then the fan kicks in, temps drop back when i get some air through the rad pretty qucikly. Iain
  23. I would agree don't (unless you really have to) go hauling it up big time, mine took around 200 miles to bed in fully, i could see for a little while the very outer edge of the front rotors wasn't making much contact with the pad. great pads though Iain

    Brakes

Axxkicker you aren't alone it not using the rear brake, i am the same unless i need to really slow down, the only thing i hate with the lbs is slow speed braking still haven't mastered that one when i would normally use the rear brake only. Iain
  25. my 98 is jetted, piped and K&N'd goes like a freakin bullet, mind you i bought that way from a friend of mine so i wouldn't know any difference, however i remember him telling me after he got it done it made a huge difference and that's after him owning the bike 4years or so. Go do it especially if you got the rest of the usual mods too. Iain
