  1. Just tell the shop about the tire and avon picking up the bill and they send the tire changing bill to them?
  2. I got my new front tire today. (well last week actually but no one told me it was in) I normally just rip off the the little package list thingy. I opened it and found a UPS sticker already to go, to send my front tire back to Avon. It will be several weeks before I can actually get to a shop and get my tires swapped out. Has anyone ever sent their tires back to Avon? I know it will be good to send it too them to let them look at it and see whats wrong with it. I was already at the trash can to throw it away, when I though about getting whatever as proof that I did recieve my new replacement tire..
  3. 69 ft lbs if memory serves me correctly
  4. We were on the border of NC and Va off the Blue Ridge Parkway, and had very good signal.. But my phones battery was almost dead on the way down cause it was searching for a signal so much.. Phone card not a bad idea... *** if you plan on using your credit card to pay for gas and stuff you might wanna call them to let them know your going on a trip*** Have heard of people traveling and getting there card turned down cause they CC company thought it was stolen from alot of small purchaces across several states.
  5. I took alittle trip a couple weekends ago.. had planned on maybe a 1,000 miles but was cut short to 750, we stayed the night still. packed into my Oxford pannier saddle bags got pants, shirts, socks, drawers  cell phone and charger, 2 maps, common tools plus my Honda tool kit, air gauge, air chuck, wallet, check book, sunglasses, spare visor, shampoo, soap, tooth paste and tooth brush, comb, Honda Racing hat, Windex wipes, anti fog spray, chewing gum, camera, binoculars, (came in handy a couple times) cable lock, Buck knife tool, copy of Cycle World for late night reading, and probably some other crap I have forgotten about. Also taking a first aid kit, and tire kit is also smart to take. Buddy had them in his tank bag.
  6. Something must be wrong with it if they only want $2900 for it.. Sounds like a scam to me
  7. How many miles you got on your bird? I am at 9k miles and just also replaced my sparkplugs. Wasn't much of the irridium there to spark. I noticed here for the past 1500 miles she would crank over for a second or two before firing to life. Changed plugs and soon as my finger hit the buttom she roared to life  Expensive little bastards at $8 a plug
  8. Do they have them listed seperately? Someone posted a thread here talking about the ( tire everyone went and looked to see if they had it or not  Why? Cause no one knew they were making two different tires. When I ordered my tires I was not asked regular, (, or even if I wanna super size it for an extra $.75
  9. If they are going to be so many different tires then they all should be listed different.. At first I loved my 45/46's now I am thinking about how much of a joke Avon really is of a tire company.. Tires are a very important part of a bike. You put your life in the hands of your tires everytime you ride. Don't make 50 fucking options for a tire... sticky wear faster, less sticky wear longer how difficult is that.. All tires should have a standard rating for 200 mph and all the speed rated shit will be no more. Unless you need special applications for your Y2K or jet bike
  10. Seems I am not the only one with this problem.. just saw this on another site he rides a ST 1100 "@ 45mph +/-4, my front end shakes/wobbles pretty bad because i feel the wobble at near full lean i am not comfortable shredding my new Avons above or below 45 the ride is smooth as usual. the front tire is machine spin-balanced perfectly. i have not checked the alignment on the rear. what could be causing the problem? could it be the unchecked rear? bad steering head bearing? do i need a fork brace? what might it cost? any advice? i need to be informed in case i can't fix it myself ..."
  11. I know we were pulling onto the interstate one time I had 3 bars left.. at the average speed I lost them 3 and had it flashing within 30 miles  Then again at the speed we were going I could have ran out of gas and pulled the clutch in to coast to any gas station with in a 5 miles or so We were late and in a hurry didn't know if running out of gas or getting popped had me more worried
  12. This past weekend I was in the moutains and she started flashing.. I rode about 35 unpleasent miles with her flashing.. I was even holding in the clutch when going down hill to just let the bike idle and have gravity help me along.. I was so releaved when i pulled into a gas station.. think I still put in 5.96 gallons... still had some left, but didn't hear anything splashing around when I shook the bike at the station... :???: Suppose to have a 6.34 gallon tank.... too close for me anyways..
  13. Might go ahead and go that route then, swap out the fronts and just buy me a Avon 50 when I finish burning up my rear... at the rate I am going to the mountians it shouldn't take too much longer
  14. Checked the rotors also when did the run out on the tire.. plus my brakes feel great up front, no pulsing or anything.. The forks are sitting in the tubes clamped tight never been moved. No rear shock upgrade or changes yet.. might change rear suspension soon if I can convince the wife I need to  I did manage to finally get ahold of Avon today, Said they will replace it no problem. But he was trying to get me to replace the front 45 st with a 49 :???: Other than the shape being different more pointy (quicker turn in) made of softer rubber (quicker wear) anyone think this is a dumb idea to miss match tire sets like this :?:
  15. I had my Oxford bags on the back of the bike with maybe 10 - 15 lbs worth of crap. Wheel weights still on.. Just bothers me knowing I was busting ass up and down one mountain trying to break in my knee pucks and the bike felt great.. couple hundred miles later shes shaking like a crack head in need of a fix
  16. Will do that again.. I did that last time when I first have the balance problem.. If this don't work I am going to contact Avon... will they give me any crap for running it at 36 psi? Or should I just tell them I had it at what they recommended
  17. damn northman I speak of you and you post faster than I can even hit the reply button... There were a few little bumps I might have hit but nothing major..
  18. Damn really?? I know Northman is running that pressure and a couple others are also.. Might try some more air in the front and see what she does..
  19. Did my ride of the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend. Rode 750 miles total. But at almost half way I started to notice my front end shaking when going into the corners. I wasn't really pushing it too hard. I was nearly riding my rear tire to edge earlier in the ride but then she started shaking and would cause me to start backing out of the throttle. I got probably 1500 miles on my Avons 45/46's running 36F and 38R psi. I had some head shake when I first got them put on cause they were balanced wrong. I had them redone and it went away. But now its back, and causing the bars to shake. Even when going straight they shake back and forth. The tires aren't cupped, I am going to try checking my head bearings tomorrow and see. Anyone else got this or got any other suggestions to check
  20. Yeah me and my buddy would play different tunes and melodies with the horns as we ride down the road  This would be several hundred beeps in a couple minutes. Riding on a closed coarse and we are the professionals  no problems yet.. other than I replaced my little stocker horn with a freeway blaster...
  21. Looks like a scuff that can be buffed but also showing 3 or 4 places that went to the plastic.. I kept putting layer of paint from the marker onto my spots that went to the plastic to built the area back up to make it look even.. You can't tell on mine unless you are within 2 feet of it looking right at
  22. Go to walmart, and visit the crafts section and look for a silver marker. its called "PAINTERS" and should have metallic written above the word painters.. It almost a perfect match for the silver. I had to use it on my right side after a little "OH SHIT" my bike fell over
