  1. My plugs are the tarred-string type from Wal-Mart. I carry the combo CO2/pump inflator by...damn, forgot the name, and my bike is 2200 miles away right now. Anyway my favorite dealer had them in stock for about $25 I think. Also sold at bicycle shops.
  2. Yeah, I prefer the Galfers. Running them back-to-back, I found I greatly preferred the Galfer pads. See the reviews section of the site for details why. Basically the non-linear heat/friction curve of the EBC's bothered me. I had been told that's just part of using a high-friction pad like that, but the Galfer Black pads don't have the problem. The Galfer Green pads are my favorites in dry weather, but mushy when wet.

    Ohlin Question

I think I have my reservoir under the left side, now I can't recall. And my bike is 2237 miles away right now. I think I took a pic of the mounting and put it in the mods section, take a look. I used three zip ties to get it solidly mounted to the wiring harness.
  4. Not often, but when it does rain, it's like being under a waterfall. I've ridden through a half-dozen torrential rains for extended periods (2 hours once) without issue. I think the key is to use really shitty hair spray that dries hard. They should be at your dealer for $20, but it seems they are just unavailable in certain areas. If that's the case, drop me $25 by Paypal and I'll mail one to you.
  5. Sharpie is the easiest and actually lasts. It's hard to find touch-up paint that matches the powdercoat.
  6. "Excess consumption may have a laxative effect." I did the same with no-carb jelly beans. Amazing how easy it is to eat the whole bag if you just leave it on your desk all day.
  7. Rather than safety wire, I prefer to use hair spray to glue them on, and it helps them slide on easier. The cheapest shit, like Aqua Net, is the best grip glue.
  8. 47,800 miles. I've been traveling constantly for the last couple years, so I have an excuse for the low miles. There is one guy in Europe with over 100k and no repairs, and many in the 70+ range.
  9. There's not a direct correlation like that. HP = force * speed If you increase the speed of the motor, you reduce the force it is producing to achieve the same HP. So...the question would be: which produces more wear; speed or force? I tend toward speed slightly in my opinion, but not by much. Especially not in a motor with the composite cylinder liners we have. I know he's not doing any "damage" to it, and if there is any wear acceleration it would be slight.
  10. The flavors range from bland but somewhat edible to downright nasty. Don't bother; the Atkins bars, though they cost more, are much tastier. Peanut butter flavor--nasty Strawberry cheesecake flavor--edible but bland
  11. I've never noticed a difference. It seems to take the same amount either way. Have you seen a difference?
  12. TJ, or anyone else...any link with epilepsy control and sugars? Since the brain and sugar are so intricately linked...?
  13. Excellent! 1.2g net per whole bar. $1.29 at Walgreen's (on sale right now for $1). And I don't even like chocolate generally, but this was really good. I fed them to my family, and they loved them. Then I told them they were sugar free...
  14. I'm also pretty much stalled around 40. Lately I haven't been keeping close track due to the travel and all, so I haven't given it much thought. I'm so happy to have lost 40 in less than two months anyway, and feel so much better. I've also become a preacher of the diet... A lot of people are interested in asking me about it when they hear me decline any sugars or carbs. I've converted quite a few people. Oh, this means you may see some strangers in this section of the forums--hope nobody minds, but with the wealth of info here, I've invited some friends and family to read this stuff. I think I have my dad's interest, which is my top goal. He's just been diagnosed with Lymphoma. A low-carb diet is a great fight against the disease itself, plus I've been learning it can do wonders to curb the effects of chemotherapy. I've also brought some other family around, as in Cuban culture we tend to eat shitloads of sugar and carry a lot of excess weight around our middles--a recipe for early disease or worse. Anyway, I've rambled...I'm stuck too, so any of the extreme measures would be interesting to hear. TJ, whenever you have time (I know we ask for a lot of your time and expertise here), can you post a new thread on "How to break a barrier" or whatever such items you care to speak of? Thanks!

    FI 'Bird ECU

Physical damage isn't covered, of course. Here's a little-known tip... According to EPA regulations, the ECU carries a mandatory 60k warranty. All emissions-related components are required to by law, so even the injectors and such could be covered by this.
  16. That's the grip I have. Mine came with TWO thumb flanges, one thicker and larger than the other. Cut off the large one on the end; it's meant for dirt bikes. You can see it here:
  17. Pretty weird. I've put over 6 gallons in mine, at 240 miles.
  18. Nah, it'll work out. That road is hard to ride fast, so unless I get my special mojo going and decide to power-slide around every corner, I'll be taking it slower. I've only found that special mojo twice on that road. Last time it killed a tire in 1200 miles, so I try not to find it much any more... You're gonna love the road though. I've got wood thinking about it. Unless I'm accelerating, I get to sixth quickly. I use it in town (of course, I'm usually doing 50-55 in town). On the highway, I usually go 80-95 in sixth. Most of the time I get to about 180 miles indicated before the light comes on; subtract 8% for my sprocket change. I do tend to ride slightly aggressively.
  19. In the US, chemist = pharmacy. If you're seeing trace or no ketones detected, then you're not in ketosis. It could be that you're consuming something that is preventing it (no idea if creatine could do that), or your system just takes longer to get off the sugar.
  20. The Honda original service manual, and I believe it is also in my owner's manual.

    less power

Then consider going back to the platinums. Several people complained of mileage issues with the Iridium plugs. I have not tried them. I don't know if they are truly interchangeable. If the mileage goes down, it stands to reason that power would go down.
  22. You're riding too slow.
  23. Yup. Only screen I've seen that actually took that into account.
  24. Any girl worth dating will want to ride with you then do it on a rock somewhere in the twisties behind a tree.
