Dotetcher Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I've been trying to trace a small oil leak and i think I may have found it but not sure. I have the shop manual for my'97xx but cant seem to find what this may be. Any input will be appreciated. The first picture is for reference. Next is of the area itself I think the leak is coming from. Quote

cbrxxquad Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 ok, I will put the pictures up in a little bit, but, it should be no problem to take the holder bolt out and turn clockwise till the dot on the shaft is down and pull it part of the way out. Then take the holder off and remove the oring, put a new one on and reverse. Make a note where the dot is on the shaft so you can return to the original location. Does that translate from texan??? I appreciate it very much and that is exactly the information I was looking for. Now can you tell me where I can get a job? : ). Just kidding. Been unemployed for 6 weeks now and enjoying the summer as much as I can. It's been 32 years since I've had more than 2 weeks off in one stretch. Just to be sure, don't take the shaft all the way out. Read the book, ok. Finally got around to replacing the seal this morning. Toughest part was getting the old seal off. Thing was like concrete. Probably only a 30 minute job including plastics if it wasn't for that. Other than that it was very easy. Thank you again for your help. Skip Quote
