  1. Thanks guys Yeah the Azaelias look so much better in bloom. ESPECIALLY the red ones  Yes..unfortunatly It cause the chain to scrape the center stand when it was unloaded (i.e. rolling it around in the garage) solution? never roll it around without being on it, or just take it off I took it off I have pit bull stands so it's not that big a deal
  2. I installed the 6mm spacer when I dropped my stock rear shock and replaced it with a 95 CBR900RR shock with an Eibach 1000 lb spring with collar from LE engineering, as well as 1.01 fork springs and spacers/shims from race tech last weekend. The difference was dramatic MASSIVE in fact and for under $300 total cost ($50 shock, $120 Eibach spring, $99 race tech fork springs) my bike now handles so well it's not even FUNNY! It DOES however sit a great deal higher and lean over a great deal more on the side stand than before. So much so I'd though I'd provide you guys with some before and after shots. Here is the resting hight before And here id what the spacer did for jacking the rear If you can't tell right off...look at the angle of the swingarm proportial to the bike chassis as well as how the bike now leans on the side stand Still can't see it? OK here is some help notice how the foot peg in the before is in the rim line, and how NOW it's well up into the tire This has no ADVERSE effect, but it does however cause the bike to now fall over into turns as opposed to needing to be nudged a little The suspension I feared would cause the bike to ride more harshly....afterall, I BOUGHT the bike because I was tired of the rack and race ready suspension of my extremely modified TLR and wanted a barco -lounger Once I GOT the bird, I was rather dissapointed in it's TOO lush suspension and how in a set of twisties I like to ride, it would wallow mid corner like an early 90's caddy with air suspension SOFT yes, COMFY yes...but I felt like I was in uncle bucks 79 ltd that kept bouncing well after the bump My WORST fear was the stiffer suspension would jar my kidneys over bumps The opposite is true. Bumps that USE to jar the bike even with the mushy suspension are now TOTALLY absorbed, as the suspension now does what it's SUPPOSED to Corners are now molested like Micheal Jackson at a chucky cheese holding the door key The bike soars thru corners now with absolutely no wallowing and excellent traction However...when I assembled the spring on the 900RR shock the preload slipped up to 3 by mistake and when I hammered it on this one apex in a tight corner the rear walked a few feet. But I kept on the gas and "Rossi'd" my way out of it safely (noone there to see this feat of motorcycling excellence either...grrrrr) Anyway...took the spanner wrench I got when I recieved my progressive shocks for my CB750 and adjusted the preload in 2 seconds and proceeded to tear the rest of the roads up without fear The benefits of this are overwhelming! Just the fact that preload can be adjusted with a little tool I can carry with me and 2 seconds of my time is enough to make this worth it for ME....but the incredible change in bike geometry and excellent handling improvement has just been AWESOME For $300 I don't think I've EVER done anything more benficial to ANY bike I've owned
  3. FWIW I just got my 1000 lb spring from LE with the collar for $110 and put it on my $50 95 900RR shock. It goes to the KTM dealer for a $60 service tommorrow and onto my bird next week. $220 total......yeah..I think it's worth it
  4. That would have been "Max' I bet Max is a pretty sharp feller, but he's also a salesman. He taught the suspension school I attended at the VIR rogue track day a few years ago. He had some real interesting things to say..alot of it made sense....but he and a friend of mine butted heads alot about suspension and setups. He pretty much ragged LDH for choosing his ohlins and adapted that dan kyle had set up for him And if you've ever been on the WERA race board you've seen Dan and Max get into some seriously ridiculous arguments....Max ends up looking like a major ass Thats not to say Max doesn't know his dookie.....but if you score a 900RR shock for $50, put $100 into a spring made for you and the weight of your bike combined, and $40 into freshening it up (internals and oil) I can't see how that equates to anything close to $600 for a penske Like I said...he's a salesman afterall
  5. Mike..whats the ball on the left grip?
  6. WOW..thats ALOT like the SAENG fork mounts http://www.saeng.com/2790.htm
  7. I think I found what I want But at $699 a PAIR  I won't be getting them legally anyway if ever now
  8. SURELY someone has mounted aux lights to their bird :???:
  9. Well....it tells me that if I can get my hands on a shock for $40, a spring for $100, and have the local race shop rebuild it for $40 that I might have something thats pretty much better than stock for 1/3 cost of an ohlins  That sound good ?
  10. And who's lights did you use? MAN those Piaa lights are expensive as hell  Anyone have a less expensive solution?
  11. Does anyone make an 18KG spring for the 95 900RR shock that you know of that will work on the bird? I'm 250 undressed with corbins and sometimes my 130lb wife
  12. Has anyone INSTALLED ONE? Just curious about mods under $1000 and what they merit
  13. Can you look at it and tell me where the smaller spring goes? I didn't HAVE one when I bought the bike and a fellow member sent me his (graciously  ) and it came with a big spring which I easily figured out...but also a small one....where does THIS one mount too? :headscratch: Looking at my PDF manual it doesn't even REFERENCE a center stand....that or I'm too stoopid to know what ELSE it would be called :twak:
  14. www.leesperformance.com? I like those guys...they tuned my TLR and made me a custom map. Took em 6 hrs on the friday before Easter (made the appointment like 3 weeks in advance and everyone forgot it as good friday and they'd be closed) but I showed up and so did they in case I did......they worked all day on tuning my bike (turns out I had a few vacuum problems) and wouldn't let me leave till it was right. tells me I bough the right bike in the first place  Not considering it because if I HAD $4k I'd be all over a track bike and an enclosed trailer...but good to educate myself none-the-less
