  15. I have service hundreds of water heaters and can tell you the operation of the unit. Lets start with how the unit operates. 1: Most units have 2 thermostats and 2 heating elements, upper t-stat controls the upper element and lower t-stat controls lower heating element. Simple right. 2: When hot water is needed the upper t-stat closes the contact and the upper heating element heats the top part of your water tank. This is done first because heat rises and it takes a shorter time to heat the top half of the tank. 3: When the upper t-stat is satified ( reaches temperature ) the lower t-stat takes over and heats the bottom part of your water tank. 4: If you have hot water and it runs out quick the problem is you bottom heating element or the t-stat, because you only have half of the tank getting up to temp. If your upper t-stat or element were bad it would never get up to temp and your lower element would never turn on. To check this you need a phillips screw driver and a Ohm meter/ Amp meter. First shut off the power to the unit from the circuit breaker. Next remove the covers on the side of the tank to expose the t-stats and the elements. Check to make sure the power is off, once you have no power remove one wire from the heating element. You are going to set the meter to read Ohms. Put your meter leads on each of the screws on the heating element. If the element is ok the meter should read an Ohm value depends on the Wattage rating each will be different. If the meter reads OL for over limit the element is open and is no good needs to be replaced. Do this check for each element. Right down the model and serial number of the unit if parts are needed and do an internet search for replacement very common parts can be found easily. One more thing to tell you. You will need a very large socket to remove the element 1 1/2" or bigger. Sears usually has them. This is real important when removing the old element SOMETIMES the old element gets bent and makes it very difficult to back out the hole. You will need a long skinny screwdriver to bend the element back to get it out of the hole. Once you get the new element you will see what I am talking about. The element goes into the tank and is bent back in a 180 degree parallel with it's self back towards the hole. Sometimes it warps and is not parallel anymore so it won't come out the hole. Once you are all back together check one leg ( wire ) of the elements for Amperage flow. This will tell you if the element is heating up properly. Remember check top on first then lower later. Good luck!!!!!!!!
  16. I can give you a little tip on lowering the seat height an inch or more and it won't cost you a dime. It works out quite well, takes about 20 minutes. Put the bike on the center stand and look at your rear shock there are two triangular brackets on the bottom of your rear shock, on this bracket you will notice an arrow enscribed on it pointing forward. You may need a way to support your rear tire to take weight off of the bolts. Remove the bolts and rotate these brackets 120 degrees clockwise (the hole that was at lets say about 10 o'clock should now be at about 2 o'clock you see what I mean) make sure you keep the brackets in synch and reinstall the bolts you are done. When you are looking at the arrows now they should be pointed up and to the rear kinda towards the tail light. The stock seat height is 31.9" after rotating these brackets the new seat height will be 30.125". Very nice for a free mod. I have done this and it feels a lot better and your postion is a bit more up right. Good luck.
  17. I am selling a Bike Barn motorcycle shelter standard model. I bought it a few years back when I was in an apartment and had no garage to keep my bike. It worked great, but I now own a house with a full basement and don't need to use it any longer. It was only used for one winter and then it has been in the basement since so it hasn't been out in the elements long. It is in great shape looks like new. The following is a link to the website where I bought it from. All the info you could ask for is on the site. They have pictures and a instructions on how it works. Once again it is the Standard Model and it was perfect for the BIRD. http://www.thebikebarn.net/ I am asking $200.00 for it. I am going to NeXXt on Saturday and can bring it with me if anyone is interested.
  18. No it was my bad reading I didn't get much sleep last night I saw it after and went back and edited my post SORRY for the words damn I wish I wasn't so far away from you I am trying to get my friend to buy one but they all have 20k plus miles on them and he is leaning towards a zx14 or a busa cause they are new.
  19. Wow what a nice bike! Very Low miles. NADA has got the bike at $4,700 which I thought was a bit low. Kelly BB has got it at $5,500 a little better. I bought my '02 in '04 with 900 miles on it for $6,800. In my opinion you should get at least $7,500 to $8,500. I think you have a great machine there.
  20. Here is a link to a downloadable copy of the service manual for years '99-'02. These are fuel injected models I don't know if anything was changed but check it out. Good Luck. Sorry it is from another CBR forum site if I violated some rules I apologize just trying to help. http://www.cbrxx.com/images/attach/pdf.gif...vice_Manual.pdf (142.90 MB)
