Michelin Pilot sports OR Metzeler Sportec M1's

... that is the question. I have heard very good reviews about both but leaning towards the Metzeler's. Riding style is not too agressive, 70% highway and 30% backroads. Traction and quick warmup time is the goal however a semi decent tire life is satisfactory. Please advice.

If you're running mostly highway, i wouldn't run either of those tires.

I would get a 010 for the front and the 020 Bridgestone for the rear. OR

The Avon 45/46 combo. OR a set of matching 020's.

Sportecs are great, stick like glue and are cheap. Expect maybe 3k from the rear if you take it easy. Not a milage tire.

Perfect! Thanks. I took a spill on my TL two week ago wearing Dunlop's; 208 front. To date I am trying to figure out what happened but in a casual right hander, the front just gave up from under me. It has maybe 400 miles on it and was not cold since I was returning from a 70 mile ride. Could have been a mix of gravel and grease but I have lost trust in Dunlops; not passing a judgement on the tire but I will not feel comfortable riding on them again. I am looking for a tire that would stick like glue regardless of the mileage and looks like the sportec would fit the bill. Thanks again.

If you crashed in a casual right hand turn (which leads me to believe that you were not riding all that hard), I don't think the tire was to blame. Dunlop 208's stick better than most.
