scubajohn
I do not have a chain cutting tool or the install tool for a chain. A local parts place will rivit the chain for me but does not do installs so If I pull the front sprocket can I then install the chain after its been rivited or does it have to be rivited while on the bike ? I have never done a chain replacement so I may end up just taking it to a shop insted of spending the 120+ for the tool. When its something I will only need to do ever 2-3 years. thanks
Redbird
It's gotta be riveted on the bike, unless you want to remove the swingarm. Another solution is to pick up a 530 clip type masterlink, install that and ride it in to have it riveted.
xxxbirdxxx
I bought 2 tools. I feel like this............If you have your chain done by shop 2 times, the tools has paid for it's self alread! Not to mention that you do it when you want it done and no wait. Buy the tool and "Gett'er done"!
Pete in PA
I've got the Motion Pro riveter on order from Iron Pony for $80. Lowest price I've found. I hate relying on shops for anything but didn't like the price for the tool for my first chain. Now I wish I had just bought it for the last chain instead of limping through with a clip type link. blackhawkxx
I know, buy the tool, use it once and resell here at a reduced price.
