NoOne65
So I am trying to tune the carbs of my 97 and while its idling I hear a clunk then gasoline mist out of number 3 cylinder as it dies. I crank it again and its idling for a few minutes then it does it again only this time it recovers and idles without the gas mist..I am afraid to do anything else for fear of putting a rod or something through the block. First thoughts? Cam chain tension? valves? 92K on the bike. I know what a rod knock sounds like it would seem if that was the problem I would hear it during idle. Two years of putting things back together and right when I think I am gonna be able to ride... If anyone has any ideas? J
rockmeupto125
If its blowing gasoline mist out around the spark plug, I'd tighten the plug. Should we assume your mist is coming back out the carburator throat? Pull the plugs and take a look at how #3 looks compared to the others. NoOne65
fresh plugs. I assumed a lean condition do i removed the bowls cleaned out the bowls and found gas was cloudy so after cleaning them got fresh gas, then synched them and seemed to idle fine but still have fan problems
slowrideCX
I was gonna say it sounded lime a lean stumble. As far as the fan try jumping aroind the fan switch to see if the fan comes on.
NoOne65
Seems to be running fine with fresh fuel...and fan issue was a wasp nest blocking the fan rotation!! go figure! Thanks again! J
