If you're headed to RacerXX, here's a nice heavy boot or a good backup pair. I don't know what model these are, but they are a very heavy, well-built boot. There is no exterior armor, but the boot itself is stiff and heavily buttressed. This would not be a good walking boot, but isn't anywhere near as difficult to walk in as the track boots. Heavy velcro keeps anything from flapping, and the rear half of the upper portion is slit away from the front and fastened with velcro as a calf size adjustment and to facilitate getting them on and off. These are just a little tight for me (I need help getting them off), and I've been wearing US 11/4EEE in New Balance.
