NoOne65
Why is the XX so hard on regulators? I have had my bike since 2003 and I seem to average one per year. I have tried stock, Ricks, and even R-1 (lasts longest) Could it be the location? It just drives me crazy to run out of juice once the reg fails! 1997 bird BTW
blackhawkxx
One per year is way over the norm. I have a 97 and it had the factory one on until a couple of years ago when I put the R-1 one on. The old one was still good. I don't know this for a fact but I bet that the folks in the south (hot) go through them faster than us up in the north. Have you tested your charging system to see if other problems are causing this?
NoOne65
Yeah battery and charging system check good per manual. You bring up a good point tho it does get quite hot down here!
tomek
OEM stator lasted about 150 k miles on my 99 ( it went kaput last year ) , regulator was still good but I`ve replaced it with 04 R1 unit anyway . BTW that yamaha unit is huuuuge , I had to grind it to make it fit . No HIDs or other crap on my bike , idle bumped to 1300-1400 rpm so electric system is not overloaded while sitting at traffic lights .
