jjp
I'm new to the site and am having a hell of a time getting the bar ends off my 2002 XX. Cant get the screw to break loose. Any words of wisdom? By the way, i'm mechanically inclined just clueless here.
BIG BOY
Is the bar end (weight) moving with it?? If so, grab the bar end (weight) with one hand and unscrew it with the other hand, with screwdriver of course.
jjp
I did grab the bar end. I've never seen anytihing like this. I'm afraid my last resort may be to use a vice grip to hold it while I TRY to bust it loose. I've never had one this tight and i'm just afraid to strip the phillips head. CBRXX
They have red locktite on them. As Don said, you have to hold the external weight. It is keyed into the internal weight to keep from spinning. If you use vice grips, be sure to wrap it with something first! Also, be sure you have a proper philips size bit. Steve
XXTi
You might try an impact driver. If you haven't seen one, it's not a pneumatic device. It's a handheld device that one hits with a hammer. The hammer blow forces the bit into the screw, turns the driver and breaks the screw loose.
