JB4XX
Clutch bolts on Connie say tighten to 78 inch pounds. Do I need to get another torque wrench? Breaking them loose was a SOB. They were on so tight two of them threw a big spark when they broke loose.
Skull
Do I need to get another torque wrench? Probably. 78 lbi is 6.5 lbf. Most lbf torque wrenches aren't particularly accurate that low. As for why it was so tight... I'm not sure. Thread locker, maybe? I have no gut instinct as to whether it's a misprint on this.
Pat830
Did you wear the clutch out already?
cbrxxquad
Not tight, must be something else going on here. Book, says What?
JB4XX
from the repair manual---- •Install the spring, spring holder, and tighten the clutch spring bolts evenly. Torque - Clutch Spring Bolts: 8.8 N·m (0.90 kgf·m, 78 in·lb) •Install the clutch cover (see Clutch Cover Installation).

My VTX was 6 ft. lbs and at about 7 ft. lbs, they snapped off. The FJR wants 5.8 ft. lbs. It doesn't hurt to have an inch pound torque wrench for the lower values. Yeah the microtorque wrenches are pretty handy to have, but fuck if the values on the dial aren't hard to get right. I mean it is not "15 in/lb" then 0.1 per click. More like "13.7 in/lb" then 0.33. 0.54, etc.
jon haney
Yes. You need another torque wrench. Hard to work on a motorcycle (properly) with out a 20-200 in-lb 1/4" drive torque wrench.
