Remember when I posted that I got about 13k out of my rear Pirelli Angels? Well, I just replaced the front - 21k

Commuting every day about 80 miles minus a couple of weeks in the winter.

I have done about 8000km on my rear Pirelli Angel ST - still has about 5mm tread in the middle and hasn't flattened out at all. The part that pisses me off is that my chicken strips are GONE, but I still have the embossed feather pattern on the side tread - this tire wears exceptionally well. No confidence issues either now that I have junked that FUCKING Dunlop and put a Diablo on the front. The head shake and tramlining that the Dunlop gave is gone and the bike falls into corners sooo easily. Scared the crap outta me the first time it happened and made me adjust both the way I ride AND my underwear.

I dunno what I'll try after this - the wear/ride/confidence is way better than PR2, Z6 or any Bridgestone I have had so far.

When I 1st got my XX I replaced the front with a Pilot Power and got ~14900km's out of it and ~3800km's from the Pilot Road rear that was already on it (I'm guessing almost ~2/3 gone) before the centre getting a huge flatspot down to the belt :icon_eek:

The next Pilot Road rear lasted ~11000km's and then I chucked on a set of Shinko 005's, the rear only lasted ~6500km's :icon_wall: although the front lasted ~13000km to bald :icon_think: Then I fitted the 1st Pilot Road 2 rear and it lasted ~7500km's before a big arse nail went through the sidewall :icon_evil:

I then fitted a Pilot Power front & Pilot Road 2 rear combo and got ~11000km's from the rear down to the wear bars on the right hand side and got ~14000km's to the front :icon_clap:

Then another PR2 rear which lasted ~10500km's and a PR2 front which lasted ~16500km's although it was starting to handle like a barge well before it wore out :icon_doh:

Next on went a Pilot Pure front which lasted ~11000km's and felt quite good till the end :icon_surprised: and a Pilot Road 2 rear which is about 1/2 gone at ~6500km's :icon_think: The current Pilot Road 3 front feels OK but only has ~1500km's on it :icon_rolleyes:

I really liked the PPf/PR2r combo and only changed at 1st to try the PR2 front and then they stopped selling the PP's here so went the Pures :icon_wall:

Have had a set of Bridgestone Battax 016 tires on the bike for about 3k miles. Bike is 90% freeway commuter use. Speeds typically 70-100 MPH. Tracks straight and smooth, great grip, good feel, have not pushed past limits, yet, even in short stops.

OK in rain, no issues, but me no likee rain riding, so the speed comes down a bit. Wear seems good, tires are checked weekly. Am wondering if bad tire pressure is the cause of some durability issues. These tires have lost 1-2lb weekly until they settled in at ~ 2k miles. Should have gotten the Battax 023 tires, but if these work out will buy again. YMMV

Oh, came off a Pirelli Diablo on the rear, and a Michelin Pilot Sport on the front. Huge improvement over the Pirelli, which makes me sad, as the Pirelli P-Zero Neros on the street car are working out pretty OK.

Cords peeking through on the rear tire after 10.5k miles. Nice, grippy, predictible tires throughout their lives. Was hoping to make it to Feb. Oh well. Parked the bike and ordered a new set of the same tires. Should be in by Feb 2.

Of course, the weather is beautiful now...

Hey, the weather is the only good thing about living in the socialist paradise of California!

Hopefully this winter won't be long.

The cold weather came 2 weeks ago. Last year it was snow from October to April :icon_wall:

But the Californian summer is a killer if you're practising ATGATT :icon_rolleyes:

Yikes. That makes me feel better about our winter weather. Its only going to be around 63F today so it will still be a bit chilly on the bike. :icon_whistle:

LOL.

2 days ago we had 2'' of snow. Now it's 20'' :icon_shifty:

Just got a new PR3 on the rear a week or so ago, seems good so far much like the PR2 :icon_think: The extra grooves should be better in winter, will have to see what mileage I get :icon_wink: Seems after stopping the PP here in Aus and getting a lot of complaints they are selling it again as well as the PR2 :icon_surprised:
