RC4G
The euro RC51's had a clear window on the bottom of the taillight lens that provided the license plate illumination. Were the euro 97-98 1100xx taillights similar in design?
JasonW
I'm not 100% sure, but I think that they are. I think this was brought up some years ago and there is an indication of a panel on the bottom of the tail light that also leads me to believe this. I can't think of any other reason for the lens to be manufactured that way. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I (not hard to do) will pipe in. blackhawkxx
If they don't, you can make your own, I did.

Not sure about Euro Birds but my Aussie 98 has a clear bottom to the taillight for the plate Always wondered why your US bikes had those ugly big plate lights
TuffguyF4i
One radio shack white LED w/a 150 ohm 1/2w resistor solves your plate light issues. I have the '99 and there is a black plastic plate in the bottom of the housing.
