There is much more on the shelves so if you need something let me know and I'll look for it, it is probably in the garage. I would say yes, a friend of mine here in Orlando, swapped his out with an R1 just recently after experiencing some major, and somewhat typical VFR electrical woes. He's got a 03, which is still a 6th gen VFR, and it's apparently working quite well, so I'd vote yes it will work as well, on a 04. I can hook you up with a couple of decent guys from VFRd.com that can advise you, if need be, let me know. In the meantime, check out Wire My Bike, it's run by another VFRd member that I've worked with in the past and loaded with VFR electrical remedies....
