929 with Broken Lower Case

A couple years ago, my brother had his 929 stolen. He got it back but the thieves abused it.

He finally started to dive under the plastics to assess what it needs and found a palm sized chunk of the lower case broken off (and no longer to be found.) The break is near the front sproket in memory serves me correctly. (I just looked at it briefly)

My thought is that it would need a whole lower case. I am sure this is an involved repair, but was wondering what you guys think. Should he scrap it and part it out? He is minimal $$$ invested in the bike. Got it in running order a few years ago for $2500.

Thoughts?

I think he should sell it to me for $200.

:-) Me first.

The only problem with parting it is that he has to take the time to do it. He doesn't have the tie or organizatonal skills.

As for selling it outright, I bet he would take $500 for it. Not sure though....he may want more, but I don't know what would be reasonable.

Cases should be a matched set. If it was me and I really wanted to keep the bike, I'd buy a salvage motor and part out the old one. All you have to do break the engine down into the major components and then have some Egay guru sell everything for you and charge you 10% of the take. If you find a reputable seller, you can easily make back the 10%.
