Smoothed and Polished top factory triple tree

Nobody sells (To my knowledge) anything other than the stock top triple tree. kinda wanted something different... i spend alot of time looking at it, its kinda like a focal point to alot of stuff.. Im not overally concerned with the Glare from the sun... (ill know soon if its bad or not).. went ahead and polished it, smoothed all the lines (Top and bottom) and rounded the corners. the line on the top of the second pic is actually the roof line in the house at the top. the little plastic honda emblem i painted flat black, and filled in the wings with red.. also polished the center bolt... ill add a few pics tommarow when its on the bike.

I thought about actually cutting an XX into the left side or.. something.. maybe making a maltese cross and molding it onto triple tree...

or maybe im just too anal and should just leave it the hell alone...

I think maybe you should be looking at the road ahead instead :icon_think:

It looks good i am anxious to see it back on the bike. but please dont put a maltese cross in it!!! Are you going to powder coat the clip ons or will they be getting polished also? how hard was it to get the top triple off? something i could do in 15 minutes?

yea, your right, i stare at the controls the whole time im riding... :icon_rolleyes: i meant when the bike is parked dumbass.... and its gay to make shit look better/cleaner than it came from the factory? ok..

It actually took me longer than i thought because i couldnt figure out what i wanted to do with it.. probably took about three hours from start to finish, (with dinner in between)

thanks.... the clip-ons are already polished, as are the grips and bar-ends. the triple tree was pretty easy to get off minus the two allen bolts holding the ignition to the tree that were hard to get out.

something you could do in about 25 mins probably.

pretty cool looking but those grips have got to be rough on you on a long distance ride :icon_eek:

Very "Phallic looking" :icon_evilgrin::icon_evilgrin:

"I mean, it's still better than flying the airlines, but I can't help but wonder... couldn't you just use pedals and a steering wheel?"

"I guess you could, but why would you want to??"

Yeah, I also had a bitch of a time getting those allens out. Had to mount the tree upside down on the stem for leverage - those bastards are in there tight!! Also destroyed one of the phillips screws holding the key guard b/c they were so fucking tight I stripped it then needed visegrips to get it out.

Godspeed - the top clamp looks great. Now I need to remove mine and polish it better. Here's a pic of mine (also polished VFR clip-ons, bar ends, reservoir covers (bought from egay), and gas cap):

Wow! great job.

BTW, change your clutch and brake fluid. They're looking awfully dark.

I'm sure the first comment was meant for Godspeed, and was hoping the second comment was meant for him also, but alas!! - I believe you meant that for me :icon_redface:

I know the fluids need changing but will do that with my final winter project of the year - stainless steel Galfers or Speiglers (not sure which one yet).

I was just curious if you replaced the head bearing while you were at it. are the stock head bearing the best replacements or is there a better aftermarket bearing?

No I did not change when doing this mod - got too lazy. However, there are no flat spots or notches when moving bars side to side. Probably a next winter project.

When I do change, will upgrade to tapered bearings - lots of info in the threads about this mod.
