h2o player
I noticed that the shop manual tells you that if you pull the front calibers (like when you change the tires) to replace the pivot and caliber mounting bolts. I have swaped several sets of tires and never had an issue. Any thoughts?
99Birdman
Could be wrong but, I believe that's because the factory bolts come with a locking compund on the threads which they want you to have. Just add a little blue Loctite and you'll be fine. At least it's worked for me through several remove and replace the last couple of years. 02XXCA
I stripped one of the bolts the first time I tried to remove the caliper. Have never used locktite on the replaced ones but check the torque on them periodically.
sokanxx
I did loose one of the bolts on the left hand side. I didnt loctite it when I put it back on. and never I checked the torque. It took about 5000 miles for it to wiggle loose, so I would probibly recommend some loctite
beondwacko
I had to pull a couple of those bolts as well when I installed the front end strap too. They were pretty tight going out as I remember. I cleaned the threads ( with a small wire brush ) and Locktite'd them back in with a moderate amout of torque. They haven't moved since. Locktite is a nice little bit of insurance unless you own a Hardley. Then it's manditory. :icon_clap:

Hobicus
+1 on the Loctite. Proper torque spec should do it... but it's brakes, and I like insurance. I lost one... http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9743 And had an interesting find afterwards: http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10235
