RK Pro Chain Breaker

I'm going to be placing an order today for a set of AFAM sprockets and a ZVM2 and sprocketcenter seems to have the best overall price. Problem is that as well as the chain kit I'll have to purchase a chain tool but sprocketcenter only sells the RK pro chain breaker and rivet kit. I would have liked to have gone with the motion pro jumbo but I do not want to have to place two seperate orders and pay shipping on both. Has anyone used the RK kit and if so what can you tell me about them? Would I be better off going with the Mo-pro?

Have you called Ron Ayers for pricing? I just got a DID gold chain, and OEM Honda drive sprocket and driven sprockets for less tha $250 total price.

I got a motion pro for $99 from Cycle Gear and was very pleased with how it worked.

From everything I have read here, you are going to regret getting an aluminum sprocket. The drive sprocket from Honda has a big thick bushing pressed into it to quiet the drive chain.

I tried Ayers but they could not compete with WhiteBuffalo's price of $190.51 for the complete chain kit.

AFAM front(Countershaft) sprocket-20602 18t $ 19.50

AFAM Rear steel sprocket-10508 45t $ 42.26

DID chains- 530 ZVM2 110 link Chain in gold/black color $ 128.75

Now all I've got to do is decide on a chain tool and I'm set. I'm going to take a look at the RK that Redbird has suggested. Thanks for your quick responses.

Do all brands of rivet links work with the same tools? The RK tool will work with the DID chain won't it?...and the reverse obviously. Always wondered because some used to be quad staked but most now mention spreading the head of the rivet with a pin. :icon_think:

Just purchased the Motion-Pro Jumbo from DirtbikeDiscount for $119.99 delivered. Went with White Buffalo for the gold ZVM2 chain, AFAM Rear steel sprocket-10508 (45t), AFAM front steel (Countershaft) sprocket-20602 (18t), and an additional master link in case I botch my 1st chain replacement up. I paid 195.51 for the chain, sprockets, and added link prior to shipping and handling from Cali coast to N.J. Which I estimate to be about another $15.00 or so. Looking forward to their timely arrival.

Local dealership quoted me $268.00 for parts and $85.00 hr x 1.5 for labor. Managed to piece together complete chain kit for half of what the dealer wanted between parts and service and I gained a tool that hopefully will serve my BB for years to come.

Got the RK kit from Trackoholics Anonymous on Ebay for 80 bucks. It was "buy it now" and I got it quick. The tool made it really easy. I can't imagine paying somebody $120 to do the work. I know you may not change chain often but it pays for itself in one use.

Forgot to mention free shipping from Trackoholics Anonymous on Ebay. Not trying to be a salesman for them but in the day and age of growing shipping and handling charges that is pretty cool. :icon_clap:

My buddy Derick (Riceburner here on the site) was up here last weekend and we installed a new chain and new front and rear sprockets on his XX. He found a steel aftermarket front sprocket that didn't have the bushings. After installation and test riding, I didn't notice that big of a difference in chain noise. Is it really that big of a difference? Thanks Jeff for the loan of your chain tool. Worked great. His is a Motion Pro, but I don't know what model. Only thing we changed was we didn't use the twist handle, we used a socket and wrench, but it worked great. I gotta get one. We saved him about $200 or more putting on the sprockets and chain ourselves. Gotta thank my guru Redbird for showing me how to do it. Confidence is a mofo if you got someone to help point the way.

Thanks for the tip. The item is still up on ebay. Just ordered one.
