cbr1100xxflame
New bike and I want to do the oil change myself. What do you guys recommend using. I already plan on the KN filter but any other suggestions? http://www.euronet.nl/users/w_solarz/devil.gif
XXTi
Here we go again. This has been the subject of several debates already. I use Mobil1 MX4T 10W40, but others may be just as good and cheaper.

TechnoGecko
New bike and I want to do the oil change myself. What do you guys recommend using. I already plan on the KN filter but any other suggestions? Just about any synth blend is fine, thats what I run. Not -that- big of a deal, but each person finds an oil they like. I've noticed a reduced clunk with the 50/50 synthetic blend, and I've had no trouble with it for a few changes now. Don't fix it if it aint broke! Master Of Pain
I reccomend oil in your crankcase after you drain it.
shovelstrokeed
Your engine can't read. Put whateve oil makes you all warm and fuzzy in there and then just change it at some reasonable interval. I have settled on 5K miles cause it makes the math easy. For reference, I just put in Syntec Ester 20w50 semi-synthetic. I have been quite pleased in that shifting has smoothed quite a bit when compared to the 10w40 that it had in there.

cbr1100xxflame
Well it appears that engine oil for motorcycles is the same as oil for cars. Everyone has there opinions and I guess I will use what ever it feel.
Redbird
One note- you want to avoid any car oil labeled "energy conserving" as these may contain additives that are bad for a wet clutch.
vetteman
shell rotella 5w40 synthetic here. recommended by many others on the board. its about 13 bucks a gallon at wally world.
LogoMan
Golden Spectro 20w50. Tranny shifts like butter. Clutch doesn't slip. Actually I just like the words "Golden" and "Spectro." Others just as good. Maybe better? Motorcycle Consumer News Volume 34, Number 2, February 2003 contains the best oil test I've even seen. Get a copy if you can. They tested 30 oils for Heat Stability/Aging, Total Base Number, Moly Content, Anti Wear Additives, and Acid Neutralizers. Also some comparisons between same brand auto and mc oils. Pete in PA
I've switched to the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV 5-40. It's thinner so less drag on the engine and more power. Only problem now is wally world hasn't carried it lately in the 5 qt jug around here. Anyone seen it in their local wally world?
