SLY DVL
Has anyone tried modifying their stock XX seat? I find it comfortable (not as a Corbin but...) except after a long day ride in jeans. The edges almost seem to cut into my lower thighs. I was contemplating shaving the foam slightly to give it a little more of a "Gunfighter" type pocket and try to eliminate those edges. Anyone, anyone, anyone...? Kev
blackhawkxx
If I were you, I would look for a cheap stock seat. That way, you could try different things to find out what works for you and you don't mess up the factory one.
The Krypt Keeper
I shaved mine, and gave it the solo look.. pretty easy to do takes about an hour.
SLY DVL
Now that's what I'm talking about!!! Have you eliminated the sharp edges & if so how do you find the seating position now? Any close ups? Kev
devilisht2003
what did you use to make the rear seat silver?
John01XX
I pealed my seat cover back and then used an electric knife and shaved off about an inch and the edges you are talking about and then restreched the cover and restaples back. No Problem - easy 1/2 hour job.
blackhawkxx
A fine hacksaw blade will cut the foam pretty good also.
The Krypt Keeper
I marked the cover of how I wanted the solo seat to look. I pulled off the cover and cut it. Attached the silver material and sewed them together. Yes I know how to use a sewing machine  Took a knife (them electric carving knives are awsome for this) shaved down some and put it on the bike to check fit... Did this about 10 times and then sanded it smooth and reattached the cover. I also got a spare stock seat I use if the wife wants to ride. The silver material is slick and the wife had trouble holding on. (I bought her her own damn bike) Problem solved

I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Plus the home ec class was me and a couple buddies surrounded by chicks...

The Krypt Keeper
Hell yeah, now that I look back on what I learned in that class. I can cook, sew, make pilliows, know how to use all types of tools in the kitchen. I enjoy cooking more than sewing, but enjoy eating more than cooking
