XX4me
I just finished the HyperPro spring install for the front and rear suspension. Pretty easy really. The only part I had trouble with is more due to my heritage than anything else. Seems if you're Germanic you know instinctively that cutting the spring sleeves is required. Being that I'm Scotch-Irish I hadn't a clue so I had to dissassemble the front fork springs a second time. I'll post more on the ride improvement later. Guest rockmeupto125
But you pulled the forks off the bike, right?
XX4me
Yep, that seemed to me to be the easiest route since I wanted to install a new front tire and the SuperBrace to. Unfortunately the version of the SuperBrace I have isn't quite right so that will be delayed. Good news is the people at that company are willing to go out of their way to make it right. XX4me
When I tried to tighten it around the fork tube I could still turn the brace in relation to the fork. Looks like the holes were machined a bit too large. More than likely I'll have them send it to Reno and I'll do the installation there or just pack it home. Since I didn't cut my old dust covers off I just reinstalled them and I'm set for HookersXX.
Dion
Hey Forrest, what oil did you use? I just got mine yesterday and am going to start with 3w.
XX4me
The stuff that came with the combination kit, front and rear springs plus oil, was 7.5 SAE. I'll get my tire mounted today so I should be able to comment on the differences sometime this weekend, that is if it quits raining.
azxx
Make sure you set the sag correct.
demon
Think someone else had the same problem with theirs Forest. Superbrace sent them a new one and all is well.
Helvet
When I tried to tighten it around the fork tube I could still turn the brace in relation to the fork.Looks like the holes were machined a bit too large. We had the same problem here in Holland with one set. Another one (mine) doesn't fit either.... Probably the distance between the holes is wrong, because the forks sticks a lot more now, and doesn't come back.... I will send it back too, if I don't get it to work right..... I think 2 out of 9 bought is not a great score....
XX4me
We take you back to the regularly scheduled program already in progress.... I rode it for the first time with the HyperPro springs yesterday. I should have done this mod along time ago! The progressive rate springs give a fairly smooth ride while just cruising around. I've got a couple of millimeters less sag on mine than they suggest because of the extra weight but it's not overly stiff or harsh at all. In the corners it's a night and day difference. Talk about feeling planted, damn! The mushy wallowing sensation is gone. I'm going to try and get some more time in today and relay my impressions later, but this was money well spent.
