htmn
My chain seems to be goin' loose too frequently, anyone know if this is expected from the OEM chain. I'm only on 8K miles and this is the third time bringing it back to spec (1.25in.).
Northman
Not abnormal, depending on it's use and maintenance program. Expect anywhere between 12 & 25K before it's done, so you may already be 2/3 of the way there....
Helvet
I lubricate the chain very well, and I managed 48.000km (over 30.000 miles with it). In total I think I adjusted the chain about 5 or 6 times...
Iceman_40
My chain seems to be goin' loose too frequently, anyone know if this is expected from the OEM chain. I'm only on 8K miles and this is the third time bringing it back to spec (1.25in.). I had to tighten my chain at least 3 times before 2500Km streched a bit in the first few months then didn't have to tighten it for the next 7000Km. Grey_XX
My OEM chain lasted 11k. The replacement never lasted less than 18k. Hugo
htmn
Thanx, none of my other bikes needed this much attention. But at least the census sez get used to it... I'll consider it a labor of lust.
Pete in PA
Clean some of your sideplates till you can read if it's a DID or RK chain. My factory RK died at 16K miles, DID went to 25K miles. Always check slack at the tightest spot in your chain. If there is a large change from tightest to loosest spot, get a new one.
htmn
Rub, rub, hmm LF01, rub, rub, rub... Damn, RK... Guess it's time to start shopping for a better chain. Just out of curiosity, is it the HP and TQ that waste these chains. My other bikes don't wear out this soon. It's also time to install a K&N once I fugure out ho to get down to the air cleaner. This bike is really packed together...
REXX
htmn, go to SuperBlackbird.com site and check out the "changing plugs" step by step. It's an excellent "how to" that will get you to the air cleaner in no time.
