demon
Plain aluminum sprockets wear out pretty fast. If you were to get aluminum, get a sprocket that is hard anodized. They cost a little more, but are worth it with increased life. I wish they made steel sprockets larger than stock for the rear. If you want to gear her down a little bit more than the 16 tooth front, you have to go with aluminum on the rear. I have an AFAM 46 tooth on the rear of mine and it is holding up good so far. It's hard anodized and wearing less than I thought it would.
RodeRash
When I replaced my chain last time, I bought a chain and sprocket kit from AFAM. Aluminum rear sprocket. I have about 15,000 miles on it so far, and the sprocket shows no wear. I've only had to adjust the chain twice since I put it on. I'm not having any problems with an aluminum rear sprocket.
