Aluminum sprocket don`t last nearly as long as steel ones.But----------------Check out Stealth Sprocket from ,,,em Sprocket Specialist.

Best of both worlds, steel teeth ring combined with aluminium carrier.

65 bucks thru ChaparralMotorsports.com

Regular alu. sprocket will not last thru one chain life.

I'am thinking of going with a Vortex Aluminum Rear Sprocket on the XX.

I need some input on this.... Please.

Are the aluminum sprocket as strong?

Durability?

Thanks

Plain aluminum sprockets wear out pretty fast. If you were to get aluminum, get a sprocket that is hard anodized. They cost a little more, but are worth it with increased life. I wish they made steel sprockets larger than stock for the rear. If you want to gear her down a little bit more than the 16 tooth front, you have to go with aluminum on the rear. I have an AFAM 46 tooth on the rear of mine and it is holding up good so far. It's hard anodized and wearing less than I thought it would.

When I replaced my chain last time, I bought a chain and sprocket kit from AFAM. Aluminum rear sprocket. I have about 15,000 miles on it so far, and the sprocket shows no wear. I've only had to adjust the chain twice since I put it on.

I'm not having any problems with an aluminum rear sprocket.
