ironmike
I'm short at 5'7", yet comfortable with the 34" scale (AIO Jazz), but I also have a 30" scale (Gretsch). They're different in feel (weight. reach, etc.) but sound very much the same played through the same rig. It always boils down to personal preference, and how the bassist wants to sound--aspects of which tend to evolve on one's musical journey. It's all good.
XXitanium
I was wondering if I could have an advantage with my freakishly long wingspan.
XXitanium
I like the color of this one. ...and ANOTHER thing, 4-string, 5-string, and 6-string basses. I was only previously aware of 4-string. Titanium

XXitanium
I sing as loud as I can with this in the car when it's on. I haven't heard it in a while though? I don't think I've ever seen the video, that's kind of a interesting bent bit of film. Edited March 8 by XXitanium

XXitanium
I count 25 frets!? Guitars He's 6'-7" he looks like he has abnormally long arms for his height maybe...
ironmike
Typically you find 20 frets on a fretted base, whereas 24 frets gives you a full two octaves on each string. They're not that common, but in the custom genre, anything goes. One's height and one's wingspan tend to be close to the same dimension, but genetics can manifest anomalies in some folk's actual reach notwithstanding their height. It's all about what's comfortable for the individual musician.

XXitanium
So my friend Tim, that used to build effects pedals was playing out tonight. Tim is in his retirement gig at Dave's Guitar. His friend Jason is a drummer. My wife noticed it was a 4 piece with 4 guitars. My kid poked at me yo go say hi to Tim. On my way over, I was surprised Jason, the "drummer" remembered me and started chit-chatting. He's kind of a mad genius. He fixed a Salvagnini once because the replacement part was months out and it bothered him that the company was losing production. He made a percussion instrument that looks like a guitar, because he could.
ironmike
Awesome creativity--one never knows when or where one finds genius . . . unfetter your imagination and sometimes it might be in the mirror. Celebrate creativity!
