Hookman49
Ok with 43,000 miles on the clock this is the first problem I have had with this bike. Just went and filled up the tank and was backing out away from the pump and no power! Nothing. Put it on the center stand and looked around and it started. Pulled out the the station and it died. Started back up, went around a corner and it died. Pulled in my driveway and it dies. What the hell is going on? She does not spit or sputter, just dies like you turned the key off. Any ideas? Dion
Exact same senario with the ST last year. Almost the exact mileage. It actually turned out to be the sidestand bolt and not the switch. check for a grove worn in the bolt that lets the stand/switch have enough slop to engage the switch. It's a dollar fix if it's just the bolt.
Hookman49
Ok found the problem. Like an ass I must have wrapped a strap from my tank bag around the wires to the switch. Broken wire. Damn. Thanks guys for your help. Ken

I won a Sargent Metro tank bag at a local dealer open house last year. Love this bag. Anyway the base of the bag has straps that go around the front and magnets on the back. Stable at any speeds. http://www.sargentcycle.com/superbag.htm
