  1. Thanks for the tip. I just changed to my gmail address and I'm suddenly getting notifications. I haven't had that function work for me in several years. So, it appears the function doesn't work with Comcast.
  2. A quick check with the parts fiche at Ron Ayers shows the part numbers remain the same across several years ('97, '00 and '03 are the same), so I think you'd be fine.
  3. Somebody should jump on this seat; it's a good deal, even with the scuffs.
  4. When I purchased my D.I.D. chain from White Buffalo Racing (White Buffalo Racing), they had the correct chain in the correct length, i.e. 110 links. Check with them before you buy a 120.
  5. Bump. Any progress on these? Still very interested.

    Battery issues

Is the Harbor Freight unit an actual battery tender or a trickle charger? If a trickle charger, you shouldn't leave it on indefinitely as it won't cut back the charge when the battery is fully charged. Best bet is to pick up an actual "Battery Tender" from Deltran. I leave mine on one of these whenever the bike is not being ridden: Clicky
  7. Got ya. I didn't know how people were hooking these up.
  8. If you use the resistor inline, all it will do, besides slow down the flash rate, is make your LEDs dimmer. The special flasher relay is the right way to go.
  9. Just one minor nit-pik: two 100 ohm resistors in parallel equal 50 ohms, not 100 ohms. Formula: 1/ (1/R1 + 1/R2) = 1/(.01 + .01) = 1/.02 = 50 You do have 1 Watt, but at 50 ohms, not 100 ohms.
  10. JRed made and sold sets of them on this forum, but I don't know if he is still doing that or not. However, there is a guy selling them on ebay from time to time; do a search there if JRed doesn't chime in.
  11. Just a quick thought: did you check to make sure the tire is mounted with the correct rotation direction?
  12. Three weeks isn't a problem; three months, maybe, but not three weeks.
  13. When I went with an 18T front, I had to get a non-damper sprocket and, to be honest, I really can't tell any difference in drive line noise. Maybe someone with better hearing would hear it, but I don't.
  14. I have a tail cowl off a '97 available. It has a couple of scuffs and a small crack near the back. Would that be of any help? I have no idea what it's worth; make an offer. I can take pics if you want to see it. Finding a box to ship it in would be tough, though.
  15. Not mine. There are some plastic bits (tail cowl, front fender) and other parts. Here's a link to the seller: '01 parts
  16. +2. No tach action on my '03 when the ignition is first switched on. It only has movement once the engine is running.
  17. I think it was listed for $5400 or something like that. Clearly a scam or someone very motivated or stupid.
  18. It's too bad they put 1100RR on the tail cowl rather than 1100XX. Other than that, it's a nice color scheme.
  19. If you're just doing an R&R, it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, three tops, and that would be working slow.

    Suspension question

I weigh in at 160 lbs in full gear, so the stock set up was quite harsh for my tastes. I fixed that by putting a Penske shock with adjustable preload and compression and rebound damping, and having the fork reworked for my specifications by GP Suspension in Oregon. It's a completely different bike now; not harsh, but stays planted on the road, even in spirited riding on the twisties here in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
  21. I purchased a set of Dragons a couple of years ago and found that I could not run my hugger while they were on. For some reason, the Dragons were a bit larger in diameter than other 180/55 tires and the rubbed on the hugger; I've never had any other tire do that. It seems to me that a 180/55 ought to be the same diameter, no mater who the manufacturer is, but that sure wasn't the case with the Dragons.
  22. Does your area not have scrap metal recycling??? Even my podunk backwoods county has scrap metal recycling. You might check around and see if there's an alternative to putting them in the landfill.
