  1. I usually get 5000+ miles out of a set of Pilot Roads. Very good tire, IMHO; good traction in most conditions and seem to last a reasonable amount of miles, given the 'bird's weight and HP.
  2. Follow that diagnostic chart precisely and check the alternator (stator) output. Make sure you are seeing 50+ VAC on each of the three windings. It sounds a little like maybe you've lost one winding in the stator. If the three windings read good, then it is most likely the R/R. When my stator went, it first manifested itself as low charge voltage, then went to no charge voltage. None of the winding produced more than 10VAC on my burned out stator.
  3. I finally got a reply from David Silver Spares with a quote for the 'bird panniers, including shipping: £295 for the bags and £105.90 for shipping to California. That's $773.50 at today's conversion rate.
  4. I was able to put mine on without removing the wheel. I did remove the license plate, however, as it was a bit in the way and would have likely scratched the hugger if it had been in place.
  5. Those look very nice on the black bike. I just checked with that site, and the price is listed as $580 USD. What was the cost of shipping? Was it $200?
  6. Shorts, I'm not much of a mechanic, so I can't offer you any advice on the technical matters of converting/using the 'bird's brake system for your use; you are in good hands with the very knowledgeable folks on this board. I had to say, though, that your story is inspirational and I thank you for sharing it. :icon_clap:
  7. The '03 paint color is NH463B, "Darkness Black".
  8. I had no problems installing my RS3s. It took a bit of tweaking to get them mounted evenly so they were the same distance from the ground (just took a bit of a twist then tighten the mounting nuts).
  9. R/R and stator dead at 28000 miles.
  10. Thanks for posting the link. My searches failed because I was searching for PCII, not PC 2. :icon_doh:
  11. There was a PCII map that was tweaked for fuel economy and posted about here, but I don't know what the thread was. However, PCII maps won't work in a PCIII, so that particular one won't do you any good. If I find the thread, I'll post.

    body work

Are the Shark Skins painted? If not, you'll likely spend a lot of money getting them painted to match, which may obviate any savings over purchasing the factory panels.
  13. :icon_lmao: I want the 2WD version for the winter here when the snow flies.
  14. I have the same setup and Power Commander suggested I use the stock map (not the zero map). They are of the opinion that the Yosh street RS3s are fairly restrictive and therefore the stock map is best. I've used the stock map and I've also used (and am currently running) the map for the Two Bros slipons; seems to be working well with that one. YMMV, of course. Someday I'm going to put it on a DynoJet and get a proper tune for the bike...
  15. When I purchased my '03 new in November of '03, it was $8999 OTD.
  16. In this case age shouldn't be a problem as the SuperSport is a new tire, IIRC.
  17. It looks to me like your stator is gone or almost gone. I just went through nearly this same situation back in August. Stator was fried, so I replaced it and replaced the R/R and battery for good measure. As posted above, go through the diagnostic procedure; it will help you isolate the fault.
  18. Just load the "zero" map; that will cause the PCIII to make no mods to the ECU outputs and will behave as if the PCIII wasn't there. Of course, that means you have to have a laptop or Palm along with the maps to be loaded.

    18T front

I have to say that I have not noticed any appreciable increase in MPG with the 18T sprocket, but it is a fact that the speedo reads almost correct with the increase of one tooth (confirmed with my GPS).
  20. No, I wasn't given you a hard time about the lack of corners, I was just joking with you. Sorry if it didn't come off that way...
  21. Please put me down as a definite "maybe". I have a PCIII, but not the USB version, and I'd like to hear/know more about the LCD display.
  22. You might want to look closer... there's about 1/16" on the left side, and none on the right side... The front has about 3/8" on both sides... In fact, the arrows and Michelin man are almost worn completely off on the right side of the rear... the light part in the center is just how far over I got on the road in front of my house... it's dirtier than the other roads around... Mike Did you notice the "J/K"?
  23. According to the color tables at Ron Ayers, yes, the color codes are the same for all three years.
  24. Jeez, look at the width of those chicken strips! Don't they have any corners in your part of the world? J/K. NBL.
  25. Ron Ayers Microfiche is your friend: Color codes for '99 But to save you the work, the number is NH359M, Mute Black Metallic. HTH
