  1. since i was taking pics i got some of the buell pegs. for those interested in swapping the pegs are off the buell xb9s. the "s" model pegs have about a 1" drop. i have them mounted on an xb9r since im so tall. first thing i notice is they might have to be ground down a little to fit in the xx mounts. also the pin is thicker on the buell so you would definitely have to shim it or use a sleeve. you might use the hardware from the buell and just drill out the pin hole on the xx. only problem with this is if you hate it you can't change it. i know these pics arent great but maybe they will be useful if you are considering the swapover.
  2. since i just loaded my bike up to go to the mountains. i thought i would show everyone how i strap it down. i tried the canyon dancer and did not like it. so this is my way.... it works pretty good not much wobble.
  3. i have the carbon yosh slip-ons. look great sound great and work great even without a pc3.
  4. use an RCA Lyra mp3 player(about 40 songs depending on size) as for the helmet i use an HJC-50 chatterbox communicator. it works for me and my girlfriend but there are better out there. i was just trying to get started cheap. the better ones are not cheap. i think all together i spent like $200. once i hit it big on the craps table i plan to upgrade. :???:
  5. ordered alpinestars boots. easy to work with and quick shipping. only drawback is if you have to exchange anything...restock fees. but just about everyones has them so make sure on the size prior to your order.
  6. i'd like to hear too from yalls experience. if it really works i may wrap mine this winter. i live in that good mississippi heat and humidity. bike does good as long as its moving but let me hit the stop and go of town and up the temp goes.
  7. to just keep the shine i use mothers and an old over the calf tube sock. rub some on and use the sock to buff. the sock makes it easy to really get some back and forth motion going. works good to get around the pipe.
  8. polishing all depends on what you want to polish out (i.e. light scratches, deep scratches, etc). mothers is good only if you already have a pretty smooth surface. it gives that really good shine. it is more of a finishing product. for the heavy stuff you will have to move up to either white, brown or black rouge sticks. use this with a buffing wheel. for even more heavy stuff you will have to move up to steel wool or wet sandpaper. start with a coarse grit and work your way down to a real fine. then you will have to go to the rouges then finish with mothers or similar. since you are talking about your exhaust pipe. i assume its not too bad a condition. you may just need to get a buff for your drill (lowes) and some rouge sticks (lowes). take it easy then finish with mothers to get the fine scratches out and make it shine.
  9. Chamber Seal exhaust sealant tape worked for me. should be able to pick it up at your local bike shop.
  10. i have those pegs on my buell xb9r. but its in the shop getting fixed since i laid it down. as soon as i get it back i will try to switch the pegs and give a post here on what i find out. warning.. it may take a while cause harley is taking their sweet time fixing it.
  11. i too have thought about putting on a larger tire. it looks like a tight squeeze to me. i can see a 190 fitting but not so sure about a 200. if someone has a 200 on theirs i would love to see a pic. as for checking on the rim size... does anyone have a link to where it tells you what rim size you need for certain size tires (i.e. chart)? i had a 200 series on my chopper but i cant remember the rim size or where i figured out what size i needed(damn memory). it looked awesome on the chop but i understand the performance aspect of the xx is a helluva lot more important(i dig the curves). but still it would look cool.
  12. 2nd works best for me. i dont have to clutch it. i just use the brake. the rpms drop to the bottom but it doesnt lug. then when i gas back on it. it seems to pull right back up. (this is for like making a turn on a street...not like hitting the twisties) i imagine every bike is different. especially due to setup, speed, riding style, and etc.
