  1. Okay, Stop hitting mountains dumbass Glad to hear you're okay. Keep an eye on Ebay there's a bunch of parts on there right now that may help you out. I was just riding through a nice boring prarie and suddenly this big ass mountain popped out of no where! I was riding on 152, a great mountain road, and with all the rains lately, we were only hitting mid 20's in the straits. Came out of a curve and had someone on a red (V-strom/Bandit?) pass so I slowed down to 15ish as I approached a mild hill. Over the hill was a dip and curve left with a 3' stretch of sand in the middle about 2" across and 1" deep, I hit the last 3 inches of it and the front pushed over a few feet for a near high side, went from 15-20 deg left to 10 deg right lean, would have been fine except that I was headed across the road at about 30 degrees. Managed to get her upright and facing the solid yellow at about 5 deg before departing asphault. Then through a 15' patch of soft dirt into a rock and over we went. I didn't even get thrown off, just forward enough to break the screen just above my right bicep. I do need an alternator cover because the right mirror was torn off the bike and bent the cowl stay back about 4-5 inches. This put the dash in line with the front break lever and when I went full left to turn around, over she went on the left side, gravel cut into the cover. Damn it. So, now I've got State Farm paying to cover the damage and my wife making sure my ego stays deflated for a few days. I have a Black 99' bird and looking over the whole thing, I need to add the fron foot pegs, he feelers broke off inside their sockets and I think it would just be easier to replace the whole part then to get the stubs out. Also, I was thinking I'd replace the windscreen with an Airblade. They just look mean and I like it! Thanks for caring everyone.
  2. Welcome, John... A thick skin is sometimes needed here Sometimes? Isn't it more like 8 out of 10 posts?
  3. Parts needed are as follows (of course, this is a partial list from the Honda stealer and may or may not reflect reality): 64460-MAT-A00ZB COWL SET, R (TYPE 6) 88110-MAT-D01ZA MIR, R. *NH359M* 64230-MAT-D01ZG COWL SET *NH359M* 64591-MAT-D00ZA COVER, R. *NH375R* 64310-MAT-000ZB PANEL, R. *NH375R* 11321-MAT-E00 COVER, ALTERNATOR 64500-MAT-D01 STAY, COWL (UPPER) 555256 WINDSHIELD SMOKE-HONDA I'm not sure about the Alternator cover, thought it was a clutch cover and no idea what the panel, R is. Basically, ripped off the right mirror, part of the upper cowl and pushed the dash back so I need a cowl stay for that. Also, pegs and wind screen would be nice. I'll take offers, advice, and a little harrasment if needed, I was wearing gear and the impact was at <20mph. Rock against plastic, rock wins. I'll take pics and if I can figure it out, I'll post them here for all to see. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  4. I have noticed the XM fade when in trees a couple of times. Would like to make a plate for the radio that mounts on the mirror bracket and two more for the radio and my cell that mount on the clip on tension screws, I'm not a metalsmith though and have not put much thought into how I would acomplish that feat. any input would be welcome. Anybody already done this and posted 10 gig of pictures I've failed to look at?
  5. Thanks for the reply, I just rode across town and back, before I saw your reply, without changing anything, no problems. I have the antennea on one of the windscreen screws, right side. Is this a god location? In other words, does it affect signal strength if it's not on a large metal plate? Also, VOX was already dialed out so as not to interfere with music at speed. Nothing else plugged in or I would have thought phone issues first. Also, I've noticed the problem a couple of times when weather was bad, cloudy, dust storms and rain, that sort of thing. Box is mounted under my seat on left side of tool pouch and all wiring is loomed and/or zip tied in place.
  6. Today I was riding into work, roughly a 15 minute ride. My autocom (pro m1) began to fade and i heard a lot of static then it went out completly. A few seconds later, it faded abck in and then was fine for a few minutes, then it faded again... I have an XM radio attached to it and the autocom is hard wired to the bike. The original leads died so I replaced them with standard mono stereo lines from Radio Shack. If anyone has any thoughts on the problem, I'd appreciate some input as to where I should start looking. TIA, Byron

    Clutch

No problems. Just saw it Saturday and wanted to make sure it wasn't indicating time for maintenance. Using Mobil 1 Syn Silver cap 10-40.

    Clutch

My clutch is letting the wheel spin when in gear but fully pulled. Is that a symptom of needing to be bled or of time to replace the clutch? TIA.
  9. I've had some clunks with mine as well but I KNOW it's operator error. When I shift well, it's just as smooth as you please.
  10. I just ordered the standard sprockets and a new front tire. Thanks all for your input. Byron
  11. I've thought about a PC for it but not sure it's worth it with a mostly stock set-up. Only thing changed is 2 bro slip-ons.
  12. So going to a 18T/F would get better mileage?
  13. I'm about to change the chain and sprocket on my bird. I've seen where people are going to a 16T/F and 45T/R or staying stock, but I haven't seen much about how that affects mileage. With gas prices in Mid-Cal, I'd like to go with a combo that gives me a better MPG rate. I'm getting about 35 mpg with the stock setup on the bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I did search the board but didn't come up with anything solid on this) Byron
  14. Not to start an argument or another oil war, just wanted to find out what viscosity I should be looking at for the bike. 10W-40 or 15-50? What's the difference? 10 vs 15 not 40 vs 50. Thanks for the input. Byron
  15. Canada, How did you replace it without removing the fairing? I can't even see in there much less stuff my oversized paw in that little bitty space. Of course, with the fairing off it took me half an hour to replace the thing.
  16. Hey, if we're putting in orders... It sounds like I've got marbles in the engine. Won't make any noise sitting still, but once I'm moving it's loud and just painful to listen to. How much are they anyway?
  17. No offense taken. Sometimes you just have to tell people what they need to hear. I really think I'll be waiting a few weeks before I start, but I wanted to have an idea what I was getting into and educated as to what I need to do. Also, I'm trying to determine what kind of commitment I need to make, an hour a day, two hours three days a week, 30 min. every morning... Just depends on the goal I guess, but I don't want to simply play at it and waste my time. I'll take a look at the gym and get a list of available equipment if I can then post that in the next few days. Probably tomorrow as I've got our PRT and will be going there in the AM. Thanks again, Byron
  18. Holy shit Maxx, I understood dumbell, dips, Lat's, pulldowns, squats, and the leg stuff. I did work out some in highschool, about a year I guess, but that was... ... I'm thinking... 20 years ago? I'm thinking I'll need a little more guidance. I'll be able to do most of what you're talking about I think, just need to know what it is. It sounds like a good workout. Mostly I want to lose the gut and make my ass fit in my jeans again. I'll be able to make it a habbit starting about April. That's when I transfer to a different job with normal hours. That'll last for the next 15 months until I retire from the Navy. After that I'll have to see what's available and what kind of time I'll have to workout. Thanks for the input and the routine. I'll see if I can do all that at our gym. Byron
  19. Lets see, I would like to lose about 25 pounds of fat. I'm not worried about the weight though so if I gain muscle weight that's cool. I want to be healthy with what ever that implies and I want to tone what I end up with, I guess 10% or so body fat. I live on a military base, so I have access to a full gym free weights and Nautilaus machines about 10 minutes from the house. There is also a track to run on or treadmills in the gym. I hate running, but know I need something of that nature so I am willing to run as needed. I'm interested in working with weights because I think that's going to help the most. I am open to suggestions though. I don't expect to really enjoy it, if I did I doubt I'd have waited this long to start. I will however start the program and modify as required to find a workout that is productive and as enjoyable as possible. I plan to start sometime soon, but haven't set a date yet. I wanted to have a plan and the job I'm in leaves a lot to be desired where actual hours are concerned. I get out of here between 4pm and 6pm most days with 10-11pm an option on Fridays. Yeah, really screwed up command. So I guess the plan also needs some flexibility... Thanks for all your help Byron
  20. Hey guys, I'm going to start working out and I know NOTHING about it. Please help me figure out what I need to be doing. Use small words and have patience please. Byron
  21. Have any friends willing to help you set him up? Get him hooked up with a chick, take video, send to his wife. Sure he was set up... Or, show up at his house late one night, turn off water at the main. Show up a week later cut power and phone, put a case of tidy bowl in his pool. Awesome house though. Congrats
  22. Maybe not, but would we like to hear it? You have to love it when things work out well.
  23. Awesome job Nik! Looks very nice.
