  1. Changing the front control from 4 to 5 pistons leaves the rear hard and unresponsive. The 14mm rear master cylinder from a CBRF4 fixes that right up, and now my brakes are everything I ever wanted them to be. Total cost: $85. To all of you who think your brakes are "just fine the way they are" - I would like to open an invitation to any of you who would like to test the system on my VFR in Upsate, SC. The best you've tried is the best you know. PS - Caster Troy is a loser, and I can't believe you guys let him into your club.
  2. Maybe the LBS is different on the XX, but I don't think so. It even takes the same brake pads, front and back. I am very hard on my brakes, and maybe that makes a difference. I've had an FZ-1 and YZF1000R, and it took less effort to stop those bikes quickly than it takes to stop my VFR. If you're happy with your brakes, just make believe I never mentioned it. To everyone else, this way please...  PS - I updated the full conventional procedure - it takes 3 lines and incorporates the secondary master instead of deactivating it.
  3. Well, then it's not for you! Just like I say in the disclaimer, "I'd like to reccomend that this modification only be done by people who are not satisfied with the braking performance..."
  4. I was prepared to pay much more money for the results that I got. :-o At first, I was looking at buying a smaller master cylinder for the front lever (stock is 1/2" on both bikes, 12.7mm), but the problem is - most "big" bikes have a 14mm, 5/8", or even 3/4" master cylinder (which is getting bigger=less leverage), and the only way to go smaller would be to go to a DIRT BIKE master, which are in the 11, 12mm range. The problem with that is that those masters don't have brake switches, and are also designed for single-piston single-disc systems and have very small resivoirs (would be a pain in the ass to bleed). So increasing the caliper piston area was really the only viable alternative (short of replacing the front end, of course). Once the testimonials start coming in, this will really catch on. I figure I just have to wait for someone else to do it. :???: If you guys need help figuring out the length of your crossover cable - here's what I did: I pulled the thick AC cable off the back of my monitor, draped it over the fender, routed the cable exactly as I would route the crossover, marked it with permanent marker, pulled it off, straigtened it, then measured it. Then I added 1cm to be safe. Remeber, it's fitting banjo hole center-to center length, and the fittings have a 40ยบ bend at each end. Like I said, If someone installs it - give me the length and I will put it on the page so the CBRXX guys will have it, too.
  5. Prexus? (it's been a while) I didn't play much - my highest character was like lvl 30 (human enchanter). Griphendor Grimorre, LOL. Have you seen EQ2? Looks like I'll get addicted all over again... Go ahead and hijack the thread - looks like noone's going to change their braking system, anyway. "I hereby dub thee.......the EVERQUEST thread!" {ding!} "CONGRATULATIONS! WELCOME TO LEVEL 2!"
  6. Thank you, sir! If you're considering removing the LBS, I REALLY think you should try this first. If you do it, you'll be 1/3 of the way there, anyway - to complete the removal, just [see the page, I changed this part] No, really - you have to try the upgrade - I could not be happier with it. It's like I've gotten a new bike. PS - I played Everquest (and got adicted and had to go cold turkey), but the name I have was originally from Magic: The Gathering.
  7. I figured this out on my VFR, and it pertains to your bikes as well... http://www.sv1k.com/vfr/lbs_upgrade Ride safely! Raphael
