Some of you from Illinois may remember my good friend Doug Flett, I keep my bike at his house. He recently aquired a 1976 Hondamatic that was setting for about 10 years. They are are trying to get it runnning but are having what they think are carb issues. He is not real mechanically inclined and needs some help. Any suggestions? I can give you guys his phone number if you could provide some suggestions. Jeff?

Nice work Rich!! I have wondering how I could increase storage space under there too. I know I realy appreciate when you do these projects and present the info here on the forum. I'm sure many others do too. Thanks. That is a lot of clearance!!! A cetain woman I know says that according to the way I measure that must be at least 8 inches.

A few weeks ago we sold Jackie's F3. Over the past few years the bike would drain down the battery when it sat for a few months during the winter. It is kept in a heated garage. I put the trickle charger on it and rode it a few times before we sold it. It ran great. The new owner ran it out of gas on the way to his house. (Stupid bastard was playing with the on/off/reserve switch while riding and accidently set it on OFF and ran it out of gas) Then he proceeded to kill the battery trying to get it restarted. Anyway he called me and told me all this stuff and also said the stator was bad and needed to be replaced. 1) When the stator goes bad what are the symptoms? 2) Does it slowly malfunction or just suddenly stop working? 3) Can jumping the bike with a car affect the stator? I don't now much about the stator, but I do have 2 1997 XX's with the original stators and want to be able to identify the problem, or maybe just replace the stator before I have a problem.

I've had a Nelson Rigg for about 4 years. Holds up great. I like the fact that it can be compressed and fits in its own small carrying bag. Also comes with straps for securing it. This thing is light-weight and for $40.00 I think its a gread deal. I use mine to cover the bike at work and the bike is always covered in the garage. Size large fits the XX http://www.nelsonrigg.com/pages/Bike%20Cov.../MC-902-Big.htm

I have 2-Bros on my '97 XX and loved the sound. They are getting a bit loud and need repacking. Ironically I just called 2-Bros this morning to order the packing kits. I've had them for about 6 years so I guess its about time. Speaking of exhaust, who all has scorpions and how do you like them? I'm thinking of getting a set for jackie's bike.

Love the older white VFR's. '93? Yep, it's a 1993. It was a beautiful bike. It broke my heart to sell that thing. and the sound of that V4 with the 2-Bros... wow!!! I see the bike in the summer, the guy that bought it does some consulting in our building. Its still pretty much spotless.

I have always loved the looks of the single sided swingam on the VFRs. This type of set-up on the XX with high-mounts would allow the wheel to be exposed and look fantastic!! ' We definitely need more info and pics on this masterpiece! Here is my VFR with the 2-Bros left hand exhaust.

I'll take them. I assume you are in Kalifornia

Nice looking bike otherwise. -
No offense, but with a cracked front rim, front fairing and lowers cracked, needs new tires, front fender and rear cowl scratched up, plus missing interior fairing pieces, incorrect footpegs, etc, I'm thinking it probably won't quite pull $5,000. But good luck.

What's your definition of a "low speed" low side? -
The stuff I am buying is individual planks like your friend bought. Yep, the laminates do better if you have pets. I have 2 gay cats. Armstrong Santos Mahogany

I have been pricing carpet at some of the local specialty flooring stores. High end stuff runs $5.00 per sq/ft and up. I stopped by Lowes Sunday and the highest price carpet they carries was about $5.00 per sq ft. MOst premium carpet was about $4.00 per sq ft. or less. They have a deal going right now for installation only $199. Anybody know anything about carpet. It seems there carpet for $4.00 is equivalent to the other stores $6.00 carpet. Seems like a much better deal. I have about $1,300 sq feet to replace.

Inoticed there are no window coverings. What do you do for privacy? Or do you just live in a very remote area? My house is somewhat similar, I have blinds on the lower windows but not on the upper ones.
-
I was looking at your photos and noticed you have the same issue I have, very high ceilings (2 stories high) What did you do to paint them? Contract it out? I have thought of renting a scissors lift ( I have double door entry) that is probably the only way I could access the top.

I'd be in for a set of pillion peg lowering blocks

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm not sure if its buyers remorse or just fear that I won't like it once its installed, but these pics have helped aalleviate my fears. Your house looks great!! I love the stairway (despite the carpet color)
-
Thanks for doing the photoshop. I like it. I plan to order the stuff tomorrow. I'm pretty exited about it. Also going to install new flooring in the master bath. I have to have carpet replaced in one of my rental units so the guy is giving me a deal on installation in my home.

That flooring is Brazilian Koa and it will darken to more of a redish color, so will cherry. They are photo sensitive woods. So as long as I don't take any pictures of the floor I'm ok.
-
have any of you guys gone with a real dark wood flooring? That flooring looks good Porter.
-
It does look pretty boring. The mahogany will definitely change that.
-
I have decided to replace the carpet in the living room/dining room area with laminate. The house has beige carpeting throughout. Everything is fairly "light" in color. I'm considering going to a "red" mahogany. It is going to be a DRASTIC change. Have any of you guys made that drastic of a change and how did you like it? Look at the Santos Mahogany. The page will automatically scroll over to that example. The flooring is actually much darker than depicted on the page. http://www.armstrong.com/resflram/na/laminate/en/us/
