  1. I used the dry ice method on a ding in my tank when I first got it, 97 bird. Noticeably reduced the ding, didnt come all the way out cause I didnt have the patience to finish it up. Ended up putting a second look cover on the tank and you couldnt see it. Kinley
  2. A bump and I am in Austin if anyone would like another pair of eyes for a look see. Kinley
  3. Good luck and very easy to do. Cheers Kinley
  4. As my bird is being traded in I have a couple of parts that I no longer need up for grabs if anyone needs. Doing this on the fly so we can work out details later. You pay actual shipping and they are yours. 1. Stock windscreen. Seen use but good shape, excellent for free. MRBADEXAMPLE GETS IT 2. Back half of the instrument cluster (black part). I was tightening mine down and spun the knurled posts in the plastic. Since I am anal I ordered another got sent two. JOE GETS IT. 3. Right passenger hanger minus the peg. I have a single exhaust got this off ebay to make into stock looking hanger. Peg was cut off by me you just need to finish smoothing. CBRRR GETS IT!!! Cheers Kinley Stuff should be going out tomorrow!!!!!
  5. We are having wood floor installed our dining room and I am redoing the base molding around the room with something different. What is the best way to blend the new different molding in with the existing? Specifically matching up the return pieces on the 45 degree angles between the old and new, ie a room transition? Does that make sense? All the rest of the molding in the house is the same so I have no example to look at. Thank you Kinley
  6. Check out Silestone before committing to granite. Just built a house and used Silestone, I believe it is cheaper and just as nice. Cheers Kinley
  7. Just like it says, how the hell do you install this shit so it looks half way decent? What I am installing is the PVC/vinyl stuff and I just cannot seem to get the gapping correct. Any suggestions or ideas? TIA Kinley
  8. Others may chime in with a more technical explaination on this. But from my several years of reading this board almost everyday, I would NOT use a master clip. A correctly installed press on link in the only way to go with this type of bike producing this type of horsepower and torque. My 0.02 Kinley
  9. I remember seeing a machinist, when I was in the military, use some gray stuff that was gritty for exactly this purpose. Its liquidity and gritty at the same time. You put it in the hole that is striped out and it gives just enough bite for the tool to get a grip?? Maybe someone else can chime in. I have never seen it in civilian life nor do I know what it was called, we used it on the Phalanx gun systems when we overhauled them. Little allen heads would strip out. Kinley
  10. In light of Dave's painting questions, I have one of my own that maybe some can assist me with. Painted my living room red and while it looks nice it is "streaky", how do I correct this? I painted over new construction freshly painted walls using no primer. I used Behr satin red paint with a 1/2 roller. I assume the way to fix this is to paint over it with a kilz or some sort of base. Then how do I reapply my topcoat to avoid the streakiness? Help is appreciated. Kinley
  11. Taking that advice, plugs come in today so hopefully bike will be back up and running. Will look at jet kit after this is complete. TIA Kinley
  12. Only engine related mods are a 4-2-1 Yosh RS3 pipe.
  13. See my other post re Bird wont turn over. Short of it is I let the battery go flat and only started the bike for short runs, then let it cool. My bike also runs a tad rich so when I pulled the plugs they sure enough smelled like gas. Fouled plugs suck Kinley
  14. For those in the know, how difficult is this to do? I have my bike half apart cause of the fouled plugs and it needs a jet kit. From all that I have read I would use the 142 across the board but carbs seem like black magic to me. Do I need to sync the carbs after ward? Do I have to continually adjust to get dialed in? How hard is it to adjust without taking the tank off? Kinley
  15. Hey fuckers!!!!! Dont hijack my thread bitches!
  16. Thank you all for your replies!! I have since put the new plugs on order from my local O'Reilly's AND bought a Battery Tender from Cycle gear. Battery is now fully charged and ready to go. Plugs will be here on Tuesday so that should solve that problem. A bit of an expensive lesson, always keep your battery in top shape either by riding or using a battery tender!!!! :icon_wall: Kinley
  17. I have been lax about starting the bike like I should. Scenario: Battery is relatively new replaced 4 mos ago. Let the bike sit two weeks and killed the battery had to jump start it via my truck. Bike knocked a little on start up but started and ran fine. Today went to start it (having let it sit too long again) and the battery is nearly dead. I jump it again and the bike starts but stumbles badly with the choke lever fully engaged. Bike runs but poorly then dies. Try to start again no luck. I try again and give it a bit of throttle a loud pop occurs (backfire I hope) and then bike dies. I go to dealer and get new battery. Return and bike cranks like crazy but wont start. I look on the forum and have checked the following: Ign fuse 10 A is good Main fuse 30 A is good Closed petcock and WOT cranking with no luck. Thoughts? Plugs were replaced 4 mos ago. Am I fouled or worse? I dont want to take it apart to get at the plugs. TIA Kinley
  18. Wow, kind of my thoughts also Zen!!! Nice write up. Evl, why NOT use self tapping screws?? Kinley
  19. Oooops Once again age prevails over good looks. My apologies I see you asked for a stator, I had it in my head you wanted and R/R. Thanks Joe for catching that!!!!! Kinley
  20. What are some ways you all have mounted the oiler nozzle? Manual says tap and thread is best also can use self tapping screws. I am looking on Mcmaster Carr and am not sure what to do. Dont wanna mess up my swing arm doing this. What have others done? Thanks Kinley
  21. Just use one from a R!. I believe one of my posts even has the part number in it. Cheaper too. Kinley
  22. I believe on the left switch there is a flash to pass switch and on the right there is a three position switch for the front maker light (under the headlight), running lights and headlamp. I have the right one on my 97 and use it to cut out my headlamp to prevent the start up cycle on my HID. Kinley
