  1. It's been a while since I had to find parts for a bike. I have forgetton all the parts sources I have had before. I need to change out my front brake pads and replace the spark plugs. Called the stealer and they wanted approx $100 for the pads and $45 for the plugs. For those of you with deep pockets you probably think I am cheap....well you are right Anyways the question is where do you find the best prices and service on the web for your parts needs? Your responses are greatly appreciated.
  2. I'm thinking $60 plus S&H, if they are in excellent condition. They are in excellent condition right? I'll send you a message with my number. Grady
  3. I at one time gave up my bird for a vtx1800. Nice bike it was, but always left me wanting for more. I am now back on a 97 blackbird and very happy again but need some of the cool stuff and decent prices....Soooo my birthday list is: throttle meister sliders corbin backrest hard bags preferrably black beatles, but not stuck on them. cool stuff like gps hook ups I already have a corbin seat, aftmarket windscreen, risers.
  4. I'm back on a bird, couple things i want to get: Throttle Meister Sliders If you are parting out a bike, or just never use yours please let me if you want to sell. Thanks Don
  5. I checked with the dealer, since the car is past 80k the warranty no longer applies. Oh well. "Here is the rest of the story" I check with one muffler place. They said they have to rebuild the area at a cost of $1000. I called the dealer for the cost on the Cat in question $452 just for the Catalytic Converter. I called a hole in the wall shop,"with a good reputation". Bolt up Cat is 269 +70 for installation. This guy comes recommended from a friend who is in the auto repair business. So looking around and knowing just a little can save big $$$$$
  6. Gotta 2000 firebird Trans Am. It is fun to drive and most of the things I have had to work on were minor. The last thing I gotta do is to fix a trouble code coming in. It is the 430 trouble code. In short it supposedly compares the oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter to one after it to see if there is a problem with the converter. The converter is in great shape and the plugs look good so I think it is one of the oxygen sensors. I would like to get other opinioins though before I start changing parts. Would anyone recommend replacing just one to see if the code goes away and then replace the other or do you recommend replacing them as a set?
  7. I hope your problem is fixed by now. First the fan motor needs to be the same RPM as the old one. It can be a larger Horse power, but it the speed is too high it will cool the exchanger down too fast. Especially if the house is already cold. Now if it is a multispeed motor, generally you will use the lowest fan speed for heat and highest for air conditioning. The lowest speed is generally a red wire. The highest is usually black or blue. If you have this backwards you will have problems in the summer time. (That is why I decided to go ahead and respond in the off chance you will come back to this post.) From the days I used to work on gas furnaces (which has been about 7 years ago), the only two things that come to mind about a motor coming on and off is: The exchanger is getting too cool--which is due to a cold inside temp air, fan speed too high, or fan temp low limit set too high. Or two, motor going out on overtemp. This can be caused by not having enough air resistance--this is unusual, unless you went alot higher in horsepower. (Which would usually mean the motor won't even fit in the blower assembly. If you still have problems PM me and maybe I can help you some more. Good luck..
  8. A 20 amp circuit should be able to handle up to 25 amps continuous for extended periods of time. If you were having problems with common power tools, chances are you have a few bad connections in your wiring, I would suggest checking them at the outlets. Eventually they will burn clear/open. Now if you just having a problem with you air compressor and it was on a short 15 amp circuit, you might not have any additional problems. But if it was on a 20 amp that was lightly loaded and the motor didn't get up to speed(which means it no doubt tripped the breaker-hopefully) You still have problems in your existing wiring. Swampnut if you need further explanation PM me with your phone # and a time to call. I know this stuff because I was a Licensed Master Electrician 6 years ago.
