  1. Assuming you had the tank off..... did you check the air vent plumbing?
  2. Ordered a set of Pilot Roads - Tires showed up at my door the next day. Great prices too!!!
  3. Springs are about $100 - Either Racetech, progressive or Wilbers. You can change your fork oil to a 3, 5 or 7 wt. Works almost as well as re-valving. You can call the manufacturers and tell them your weight, riding style etc.. and they should be able to recommend a spring and oil weight for you. I replaced my springs/oil with a floor jack and hand tools - took almost an hour. Easy mod. Edit: Do a search on the board for Wilbers - There is alot of good info on springs, oil wt, oil levels etc..
  4. Best XX upgrades money can buy: 6mm shim on rear shock - 50 cents Front spring upgrade/fork oil change - $110.00 Brakes - what you have is probably fine, just replace the fluid - you'll notice a difference. Plugs - 12k is a good time to change them. Go with the iridium, there is no performance gain, they just last longer.
  5. I plan on wearing long sleeves under my mesh gear in another month or so
  6. You're supposed to clean your chain?
  7. After initial startup an HID bulb will draw 1.6 amps less than a standard 55w halogen bulb.
  8. +1 I've had HID in the XX for a few years now - no problems. Check the connectors behind the dash. May have an intermittent connection.
  9. I used some 3M VHB tape and taped mine to the inside of the upper cowl. 2years and about 12k later it's holding strong.
  10. 146s with an Akrapovic header/pipe was a good combination for me. I put a factory exhaust back on, I should probably go down to 142s on all 4 carbs nexxt time I have the tank off. There used to be a decent XX write up on the factorypro website.
  11. +1 Once the HID is ignited it's better to leave alone. The HID is bright enough to get the cagers attention
  12. When ya find it let me know. The only kit I can find is a Pro Charger for Hardley Ablesons. It could probably be modified easily enough but I don't have time.

    The Laundry...

Bought the HE4t set last year...Love it but freakin expensive!!! I'm gonna open a chinese laudry to recoup some of the costs But make sure you have room for them.. they run 4-5" deeper than a standard washer and dryer
  14. Throw them over the fence....let the neighbor deal with them
  15. When was the last time you flushed the cooling system? If never, some new coolant and distilled water should knock a few degrees off the temp gauge. Also, get some Water Wetter: http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/redtech3.htm Edit: For the desert I'd do 75% distilled water, A couple of ounces of water wetter (it's 1 oz for every gallon in the cooling system) and a quality anit-freeze for the rest.
  16. +3 Grind off the old chain with a dremel and have the new chain pressed on (if you don't have a chain press) DON'T use a clip style master link... it WILL fail. Removing your swingarm to replace a chain is like pulling the motor to change the sparkplugs IMO.
  17. Did you check Lowe's???? Go to Partmonster... Louie will take care of you.
  18. The most popular budget suspension fix seems to be new fork springs, lighter wt fork oil (3-5wt) and a 6mm spacer on top of the rear shock. If your stock rear shock has more than 20k on it, replace it.

    micron cans

The slip-ons have a restrictor welded into the end cap. The full system does not.
  20. Sorry Dale.... I think we may of found the new "Farkle King" :poke:
  21. The stock front sprockets have rubber dampers on them and are very quiet. Aftermarket sprockets are too narrow for the final drive shaft, have no rubber dampers and tend to be very noisy. If the bike is brand new.....I dunno. If you are not the original owner I'd check the front sprocket.
  22. ...What everyone else said. Your not going to find any halogen auxillary lights that will burn brighter than your HID. You can either do an HID high beam or mount a set of HID aux lights a-la Warchild.
  23. Didn't they used to be Cheng Shin (sp?) ?
  24. +1 The XX low beam reflector works very well with HID
