  1. Stretch and slam it......BAM!!!!!!! You can pick up a copy Super Streetbike magazine for inspiration. Nothing but stretched, slammed and chromed 'busas w/ bottles
  2. Give it a smack and tell it to get back in the kitchen!!!!
  3. Stock exhaust or slipons? - Don't bother... just shim the needles and back the pilot screws out 1/4 turn (and don't bother w/ a K&N filter at this point either - you'll see no gains) Full aftermarket exhaust? - Yes! don't go over 142's unless you plan on doing engine work. I am seeing a 8-10 hp gain on my '98 using an Akra ti full system, K&N air filter, Factory ignition advance, Factory Ti jet kit (using 142's) and at least 8 dyno runs to get setup right. That's only $100.00 an HP!!!!!!!!! But I got rid of my 3-4k flatspot!!!!
  4. Bought one on Fleabay earlier this spring. Was gonna hardwire power leads to it and integrate my XM and GPS into it but never liked the way it sat on the tank so I sold it back on Fleabay (ya know....it does look like a giant tick )
  5. Don't bother w/ aux. lights......HID's Baby!!!! the only way to fly. Less draw on the electrical system. Brighter, more useable light and no extra "stuff" hanging off the bike.

    Trailer a Bird

Ditto!!!!.....All the straps in the world won't help if the front end decides to kick out over a bump or something. My old trailer had a chock for the front wheel and the center of the trailer had a couple of strips of 3" wide 3M traction tape. the stuff they use on steel stairs...keeps the wheels sticking to the trailer better if the trailer gets wet. BTW - If you use a canyon dancer slide some PVC tubing over the clip-ons first. It will keep the grips from working loose and having to be re-glued.
  7. Ditto....going to one can and a full system takes some getting used to at first. I cleaned up the left side of the swingarm with a carbon fiber hugger/chainguard from someplace in tx. (carbotech?). Jet the bike (use a Factory Ti kit) and put the full system on and you'll be grinning from ear to ear
  8. The carb'd XX's run too lean to begin with - all you did was make the bike run even leaner w/ the K&N. Put the stock filter back in and get the bike jetted - THEN put the K&N in.
  9. The 208 is too soft a tire for the XX. Real sticky - but won't last more than 3000 miles (been there, done that  ) as far as plugs......riding my XX and having to worry about a plug giving out at some critical moment takes all the fun out of riding - and I thought thats what we were in this for.
  10. Either an intercom system like Autocom, J&M etc. or a mini-amp like a Boostaroo. Do a search on the board for "XM". There are lots of threads with good info.
  11. Try.... http://www.starcycle.com/spcl.html Some people like Starcycle, some people can't stand them. I ordered an exhaust from them and the transaction was smooth.
  12. Never used a mightyvac until I took my bird home. Always used just a hose & container. Spent $32 @ Autozone for mine. One of my best garage investments so far.
  13. The eMap has the largest screen of any of the handheld GPS's (which is why I bought mine before buying a streetpilot III) and uses the garmin data cartridges ONLY (has very small built in memory w/ crude mapset - interstates, major highways and "dots" for towns). If you are looking for a budget GPS that is a little more flexible, capable of handling mapping software (full maps w/ ALL street and lots of detail), expandable (able to buy larger memory cartridges later on) and is easier to read while super slabbing - I'd choose the eMap. -You would need the eMap -A memory cartridge (still recommend 32mb - only $9 difference between 16mb and 32mb, should be enough for SEXXT/HOOT, NEXXT and MegaXX if planned correctly. -Mapping software (I believe only the Metroguide software will work for any of the Gamin units) I have a copy I could send out if you get stuck. -If you are using 32mb or less you DO NOT need a USB programmer - the serial cable that comes with the eMap will work fine. -A GPS mount (unless you are using the map pocket of your tankbag) - check out gpscity.com, ram-mounts.com or saeng.com for ideas. -If you plan on riding alot at night and using the backlight on you GPS I would also recommend hardwiring you GPS to 12v. Other wise put the GPS in "battery saver" mode and 2 AA batteries should get you through 2 days of daytime use. (the backlight chews up battery life). Anyway - hope this helps and good luck!!! Terry
  14. Redbird is correct. I'm gauging this from my streetpilot III and forgot what a memory hog it is (voice prompts, address database etc..). A 32mb card should get you to and from with enough room for local maps. It looks like none of the new Garmin handheld units support the memory card. I did find this - refurbed eMap w/ a 1 yr. factory warranty: http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/6762.14..../noemapdlx.html
  15. Ditto..... I don't think that Garmin GPS's are compatable w/ anything else. You are going to need at LEAST a 64mb data card to get you from Mi to SEXXT (recommend 128mb). You will also need a USB programmer for any card over 32mb (the serial port transfer rate is too slow and the application/transfer will time out....trust me). Here are the GPSCITY links for what you need. Been using them for a few years (business AND personal) highly recommend them..... http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/12177.3....751/mg64mb.html http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/12177.3....51/mg128mb.html http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/12177.3....usbgarprog.html http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/12177.15...51/mgusav5.html
  16. The ground plane for an XM antenna only needs to be 3cm across (antenna calc 71.3232/2332mhz=0.03meters). My low profile antenna has a steel base that's about 5-6cm across. I don't think a larger ground plane will help  The only time I ever have a problem is in valleys and under dense foliage which is unavoidable with these high freqs.

    HyperPro

My local shop is pitching me HyperPro springs over Race Tech because of their progressive rate (tunes track bikes - mostly F2, F4, gixxers sv650s - little XX experience). Has anyone had any negative experiences w/ HyperPro on the XX?

    H.I.D Lights

Yeah.... my bad  However, dealer cost on HID bulbs is at least 60.00 - so between bulbs and ballasts, where is he making his money? sounds kinda fishy to me :?:

    H.I.D Lights

xenondepot.com is only 249.00. I know of at least 6 people who bought there and so far nothing negative.

    Fuel Problem?

Ditto... I've had my bowls off at least a dozen times "tweaking" and never a problem.

bump... too good of a deal.

    UFO LIGHTS?

Just be careful...the control box is not water proof..I put mine in a baggie wrapped in electrical tape after I was done setting it up.
  24. Garmin eMap...Largest display of any of the handhelds (4 scale grey LCD), fits on the bike easily, and uses up to 128mb memory cartridiges for moving map stuff. You can find them on eBay for up to 70.00 used....... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5703438272&rd=1 And check out this site for mounts, accessories and stuff....... http://www.gpscity.com Good Luck!!!
