  1. Forget his name, but there is a great guy in Mountlake Terrace.

    Hi Guys:

Wondering if anyone can recommend a good motorcyle mechanic that has reasonable rates and does good work in the Seattle / Woodinville/ Bellevue Area in WA. I do my own oil changes but will need to do the Chain in another 5K as I have 15K right now. Also is replacing the chain and sprockets and flushing all fluids a do-able DIY for some one with good mechanical ability or is it something I should stay away from and let the "pros" do it?

    Thanks

    Scott

    I would recommend Gevasi's in Everett: http://www.gervasismotorsports.com/

I wouldn't call their rates reasonable, but I would trust them with my bike, uhhh... if I had to. They are in a new shop now and Rick has a very good reputation. They do charge about what other shop's do but are very fair on hour estimates. I had them adjust the valves on my Interceptor and it cost $370.

Flushing fluids isn't difficult, and changing a chain just takes the right tools. If you use a rivet link chain, you will need a rivet link tool.

  2. For years my blood pressure has been "borderline," what doctors now call pre-hypertension. This is 130-140 over 80-90. More than 140/90 is Stage I hypertension. I am only in my second week of induction, and was very surprised at my new BP readings. My systolic, the big number, has dropped more than 10 points. My diastolic has dropped nearly as much. I am now normotensive!!! This diet works wonders! I just found that Dr. Eades (Protein Power) talks about this effect. Supposedly, insulin causes your kidneys to retain too much salt, which means too much fluid, which means high blood pressure. What has your BP done?

  3. Green tea is better than some others. I wouldn't say TONS.

Drink (12 oz unless specified) /Caffeine in mg

    Drip Coffee (8 oz.) 115-175

    Red Bull 80

    Jolt 71.2

    Mountain Dew 55

    Diet Coke 45.6

Tea Brewed (US ave in 8 oz) 40

    Pepsi 37.5

    Coke 34

    Tea, Green (8oz) 15

  4. Hi all, this is only my second post on this forum, but glad you are here.

I have been reading the South Beach Diet. It looks very similar to Atkins, but allows more GOOD carbs and encourages less saturated fat. It was written by a cardiologist and a nutritionist. Has anyone tried this plan?

I did Atkins before, lost 10 pounds, but then leveled out. I regained immediately after quitting.

Should I try the low carb thing again? I just don't know if I have the motivation..

  5. I was disappointed in what I got for the price at Subway. I recently found out that Safeway has some great wraps. You will see their big sandwich display, but you can get it in a low carb wrap. I tried the Tuscan Chicken today and was quite satisfied afterwards. They even let me substitute a piece of fruit and water for chips and pop in the one-dollar more meal.

  6. Okay, I think we all know that Nik is just TORQUING on that key way to HARD!

Yeah, I had ignition problems, like when the bastard used a SLIDE HAMMER!!!! on it. Then it started just fine for him, with just a screwdriver! Ohhh, and fork lock is useless after this treatment!

  7. Don't know, but I would just ask.

Find a good shop with a painter that actually can match paint by sight, not just mix up recipes. Bring it in preped and ask him/her to shoot it. Shouldn't be as much as a new one.

  8. Dave had a synthetic virgin once, in Towanda. Made quite a noise when it popped. Almost woke up all the roof people. Maybe if he had used synthetic virgin oil....

This time I mean it, I am seriously ROFL!!!

  9. I wanted to let you all know about a nice shop I found for getting work done, both repairs, maintenance, and mods. I live in Mountlake Terrace, so I was glad to see that George Dean's Seattle Cycle Service has moved here. I was able to get a tire mounted on a Saturday, with NO WAIT, and for only 20 bucks, including balancing. I believe the shop says something about the owner. The shop is immaculate with all the tools in their spots, cycle stands, a dyno in the back, and an epoxy floor clean enough to eat off! He has really reasonable rates and can help you mod out your bike or just repair it. Stop by and check it out:

  10. I bought their cradle, specific for the Garmin, from GPScity.com. I also got a u-bolt that goes on the bar clip and a suction cup to take it in the car. I'll send pics on email if you want.

  11. Hey, guess what?! High octane fuel is actually LESS explosive, less volatile, has less FLASH if you know what I mean. It is designed to not detonate when used in a compression engine. The high compression may give you more power! It DOES NOT MEAN it will necessarily give more power to your old biatch of a bike!
