  1. Will! I can t belive you dogged me like I was a bad guy for not telling him about the clutch. and it sounded like you thought I was a shady character. sorry I though we had a better relationship than that. first off I did tell him about the clutch, I know I did, I also told him that it had done it since the day I bought it and had no real problems with it other than what he stated. but as you know I was trying to sell the bike which I thought to be well worth the price even with the clutch issue ( I put about 20000 miles on that warped clutch) I am sorry he didnt understand or misunderstood what I meant , and I didnt mean to misslead him in anyway. he also got a fucken rocken deal on that bird. while I rode it hard on occasion (yes I did quite a few wheelstands) I never abused it did all maintence religiously, and loved that bike like it was of my own blood. I know he enjoys that bike everyday, as I saw him riding often for a year or two after I sold it to him. anyway, I hope he still loves it, and hope you are doing good too. maybe we can go for ride someday, I have a spiffy new cruzer which I should be able to keep up with you on!
  2. I have full akra system and jet kit (sorry no efi) and went from132 to 145 on the dyno, also eliminated the flat spot between 5-6000 rpms. true you dont need a pc when you install full system, but you will not see the full gains that you should without it, and as for the k&n my bike actually went down a HP with it, keep the stock honda filter they flow excellent.
  3. still wating for someone to tell us what a "fuel broquet" is.... :moon:
  4. ok.. do i need the piano spring in it? I have done a butt load of clutchs in the past and never have i seen this "piano wire" clip in one before... can I go back in and leave it out? I cant see a problem.. but ya never know them there Japs do some wierd shit with there engineering..
  5. bastards! I kinda figured about the same...I was hoping for an easy out.. I got the ebc's from a buddy who works at a motorcycle parts ware house and got em for cost (20 bucks) couldnt pass em up, guess I wil have to live or buy factory.. thanks Jim
  6. put new clutch plates in... now biek rips, pulls hard blah blah blha, only problem is.. when stopped, in gear, with clutch pulled in, bike sits as it should not pulling or shaking or anything just right, but, if I rev it up she will creep forward, actually she will surge forward, when I put the new plates in (ebc) I checked all the metal plates for warpage and they were all good ( I didnt have this problem before the new plates) and the only thing I can think of, and I dont know what effect it would have is the wire clip that goes on after the first plate wasnt new... .. anyway, does anyone have any suggestions?
  7. are you tryin to build your own set of pipes, Knight? if you would of asked for the dimensions before I put em on I woul dhvae gladly done it, but , they aint coming off any time soon.. so your out of luck here.. sorry..
  8. amazing ystem, I think it sounds the best, I have a carbonfiber can which looks great on my black bird..cant keep the centerstand unless you make alittle bracket to keep the centerstand from coming up to high and hitting the chain, there is a thread somewhere on here that shows what to do, I gained 11 hp with the pipe and jet kit, keep the stock airfilter, works better. I noticed a big diference in the way it runs much less of a flat spot in the middle, and wheelies like a champ. (I also went one tooth down on the front sproket which unless all you do is highway riding you will love). have fun with the new pipe it sounds great and is very resonably quiet at highway speeds but get on it and she lets people know your on something with big balls.
  9. why are frams the worst?.. evidence? just askiing cause I have used them in my cars forever and now have one in the bird cause they are the easiest to get. but if I have some evidence to back up not to use em, I will not use em, but then again I wont take a "well billy bob said so" excuse like chevy is better than ford.. when its just personal opinion.. so.. why are frams the worst?.. thanks
  10. wel tim, keep me on your contact list cause I want one, but not really in any hurry either.. so I might stil be lookin next spring.. but I think you need to put that shock on as soon as you get it, it wont take long to put in, shit you could do it in less than an hour... and get to use it before that friocken rain starts! I know how bad it is, I used to live in seattle.. man my rain suit got used alot! and you could never .EVER ride without takin it with you just in case.. anyway have fun, enjoy the suspension
  11. two lights out and up, they dont do much for straight line, but when leaned over in a turn they come down nicley and around the turn. very helpful for night riding.. problem is mounting you wil have to find a place on the fairing to mount, of maybe could figure a way to attach them to those cool mirror spacers. that would be the best and would require no drilling of the fairing... I did a similar thing on my old zx10, but havent had the time or cash to get it done on the bird..but it will happen and wil post pics when I do..
  12. tim, have you gotten the shock yet? if so how is working? and do you wanna sell your new spring off the old shock? Jim
  13. pics we need pics of these setups... they sound cool...
  14. from what I have been told xxbird's wife like the cheeta better says the givi gave lots of buffeting, and cheeta mucho better, I have a cheeta, and I have no complaints from my girlfreind on the back and she sits way up, as I am only 5'7 and she is 5'10 so she is definatly above my helmit and with the cheeta its ok
  15. sounds like its lean, put the washer back in. how rich was it up at that altitude? my 97 runs fine with my jetting which is jetted for sealevel when I am up in the mountains7-8000 feet, still good and I am richer than stock, stock jetting is so lean, :headscratch: I cant see the need to go leaner if you lived at 7000 ft.. why did you change?
  16. big diference in the way the passenger feels over the givi, cheeta better givi lots of buffeting (xxbird told me so) I have the cheeta, unfortunatly I bought mine right before the prices whent down so I paid 50 bucksish for mine. all in all its a decent screen for espeacily for the price.
  17. gerarado.. its my understanding that you have to buy two kits for each fork, a compression, AND a rebound, whci would prolly be the reason you didnt have any compression shims in the kit., but I could be wrong, I know ehn you buy them for the dirtbikes its all inclusive, but form reading here on the board , you need two.
  18. your shittin me... well I hope not, but if so, make sure you bring the vasaline..
  19. most likely dirt in the needle assembly or stuck float, either way, it wont cost you anything to fix it .. well except labor, since you brought it to the dealer.. but you could have easily done it yourself.. if you have any questions pm me.. it really is easy to check the needle valve, time consuming but easy... they will probably charge you 2 hours even though it will really on take em about 30 minutes to an hour at most.. dont let them charge you for more. and if they replace the needle valve assembly it shouldnt be more that 20 bucks .. and probably less.. the ones on dirt bikes are like 10 bucks. hope they are not asses about it....
  20. I am in, they better be good though I cant afford to have it not be right, hard enough to get a hunsky outta the old lady, but then to not have it be right.. oh man shit house for sure..
  21. meguirs quick detailer.. great stuff doesnt build up and works excellent I take a small bottle with me whenever I ride and use it for bugs and dust and whatever, also great on the helmet and lenses. you can find it at any auto parts stores
  22. do you guys really worry about shit like that? I make sure the chain alignment is good and ride, there really nothing you can do if the front end is out anyway, cept buy a new frame, swing arm...and shit it still might be out! :moon: align and ride or align and drink beer and ride the next morning...
  23. I dont think tire alignment would have much to do with tire wear since its only two wheels, it would just drive down the road alittle crooked.. I think... maybe your just riding harder than him(swamp), he did put alot og highway miles on this last set. I can get about 5-6000 on my 208's but I do alot of freeway riding and I ride the twisty's alot on the weekends, and my sides are usually worn more than the centers. I did jsut toast my chain from having the rear wheel twisted alittle from my last adjustment. costly mistake
  24. yikes.. thats crazy did they say how much the average xx was off by? I understand the manufacturing tolerences, but that is one thing you would think they would try and control. only way I could think of is to put it on an alignment machine, and the next question is do they have an alignment machine for bikes? and then after you aligned the front and rear wheels, what about your sproket? that is pretty dam important to be in a straight line... oh my god to much shit to deal with... my heads gonna pop.. fuck it, as long as my sprokets aligned I will live with it.. just dont let go of the bars and you wont have the front end wobble... :-)
  25. pete, if the tire is square in the swing arm then it should be square with evrything else, unles your frame is bent... there is no other adjustment you can do, you cant adjust the way the wheel sits side to side. the only problem I can see with the dowel method is how the dowel sits in the axle and in the swing arm pivot, if its loose at all there is the possibility of the dowel siting diferently on either side of the bike, ie is it sitting centered in the bottom of the hole or is it forward or back compared to the center, or when you measure and have the tape measure touching the dowel is it staying centered? just a thought and wondering how you check that cause it sounds like a great way to check aligment, but those are my concerns, and what size dowel thickness?
