  1. Has anyone tried a dry cell battery yet? If so, how well did it work, how much weight did you save, and how long did it last? Thanx
  2. Whazzup Pete? Re-jet. I did it after I bought the Muzzy system from you, and the seat of the pants dyno tells me that it was a good mod. After changing the exhaust there was a flat spot around 6500 RPM, but with the jet kit, the flat spot went away, and the overall power seems to have improved greatly. -Ridley
  3. Okay, one question before I go and try this. What is the draw back? If adding the 6mm is such a great idea, why didn't Honda do it from the factory?
  4. Your lines are probably swelling. I had that problem with my old FZR until I replaced the rubber hoses with steel braided lines.
  5. It looks BADASS!! Let me know how it all goes and I will be one of your first customers. I would love to have my rearsets and a few various other pieces black chromed.
  6. Mine is for sale and my bike is a '97. Let me know.
  7. I don't trust the fuel guage at all. I have never run out of gas, but I regularly run 30 to 50 miles with the fuel light on. The most gas I ever put in was 5.3 gallons.
  8. Rich, I just went down 1 on the front. I didn't have to change my chain, and with the loss of weight and extra power from replacing the stock exhaust with the Muzzy system  I am now having trouble keeping the front wheel down in first gear. I haven't been on any long rides yet so I can't tell you about the mileage, but dropping a tooth on the front is definately worth it.

    Tank Slap?

I realize that I am late to this post, but I have experienced my front end "pushing" when I am hard on the binders. I get on the brakes hard, and the front wheel skids, and tries to turn. I can only imagine what would happen if I attempted to brake while leaned over. The suspension also goes pogo on me when this happens.
  10. I am almost embarrased to ask, but how do you "polish" the wheels, and other aluminum parts? I am not a huge fan of chrome, but I think polished aluminum looks cool. Do I need to send my wheel to a plating shop, or is this something that I can do in my poorly stocked garage? :?:
  11. I roda a dealer demo 2001 XX, and I prefer my "ancient" carbureted '97 XX. Don't know why, but it just feels better.
  12. So far the only decision that I have made is not to go with D&D.
  13. I have a '97 bird also. It had 4000 miles on it when I bought it four months ago. It now has almost 12,000 miles on it. I intend to ride it until the odemeter rolls past the century mark. I cannot imagine FI adding enough to the bike to warrant the extra money. When I finally do ride the wheels off of my bike, however I will buy a newer model Blackbird.
  14. I have heard about Akropovic, but I don't know anyone who has purchased that system. How does it sound? What color is your bike, mine is black? What was the problem with the Muzzy can? My last bike was an YZF750, and I did very little to it because I was on a "college" budget. I am going crazy now reading all of the wild claims by different manufacturers, and no two mechanics at my local bike shop agree on anything, much less an exhaust system for a Blackbird. I am the only person I know around here who rides one. I use it for everything from daily commuting  , to sport touring  , to weekend corner carving  . Will this make a difference in which pipe I should buy?
  15. Greetings All. I recently purchased a '97 Blackbird with only 4,000 miles on it. This is my first "BIG" bike and I need some advice. I want to gain some power, and lose some weight so I have been looking at Muzzy's full titanium exhaust system. Does anyone have any experience with this setup on the Blackbird? :?: How should I jet my carbs after the pipe swap? Is there a better system for the Blackbird? Which system is the lightest? I know that I have a lot of questions, but I want to get this right the first time. I absolutely love my bike and I want it to be tthe best it can be.
