  1. God it was really freaky. I was eating about a can a day too, and I started losing large amounts of hair. At first I thought it was because I wasnt getting enough sulfur, but that would be a stretch since I was eating alot of eggs, meat anyways. I started taking Biotin, even though I knew I was getting enough of that, it didnt help. I take a multi vitamin a day, but nothing changed. So I stopped eating Tuna, and my hair started growing back. The only conclusion I came to was, that I was consuming so much that I was eating trace amounts of mercury, enough to make my hair start to fall out. I eat tuna about once every two weeks now, and have since replaced my source of fish with Halibut, haddock, cod, salmon. I havent had a problem since.
  2. Congrats on the treadmill! I also have one and use it as much as possible. I just have a Nordic track, It was around 1500. 3K! Does it do the dishes? :razz:
  3. That was really gross nik! LOL! My good buddy, who is a personal trainer is a freak! He actually would go out to breakfast with me and order a 6 egg white omlet, and hand the waitress a can of tuna and tell her to have the cook put it in the egg whites for him. I would laugh and say...."I'll have all his yolks" Speaking of tuna, how much of it do you eat? I was eating it very often until I started to have some bad side effects.

  6. Damn.....wish I could find some good Chorizo out here, love that stuff, but lets face it, I live in Wis:) I was also surprized at the taste. I have tried some down right raunchy low carb stuff.
  7. I have packages of these in my freezer and packages in my fridge and eat them with everything. They are by far one of the best low carb items that I have tried. I can buy them at my local grocery store now, but if you dont have them here is where you can buy them.http://www9.netrition.com/low_carb_tortillas_page.html I make breakfast burritos with them (scrambled eggs with 2 tablespoons of con Queso and salsa), and even have peanut butter and low carb jelly on them. I also use them to wrap up my egg, or chicken, or tuna salad. Here is a quick dinner recipe. Mini Avocado-Spinach Quesadillas Vegetable oil 4 tortillas (I used low carb ones, of course) 1/2 pound Pepper Jack cheese, shredded 1 avocado, sliced 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon sour cream 3/4 pound baby spinach leaves, chopped 1/3 cup salsa Preheat oven to 450 Lightly oil one side of each tortilla and place them oiled side down on a baking sheet. Layer cheese and avocado on one half of the tortillas (keep the other side free for folding) and bake until cheese is melted, about 4 minutes. While tortillas are warming, mix olive oil with sour cream in a bowl. Add spinach and salsa, and toss. Top tortillas with spinach mixture and fold in half.
  8. 1 pound ground sirloin 4 Italian sausage links -- (4 to 5) mild or hot 1 medium onion garlic salt to taste pepper to taste 6 large Portabello mushrooms 1 large container ricotta cheese 1 egg Lots of grated mozarella cheese Canned spaghetti sauce (or make your own) Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove sausage meat from casings. Brown sausage and ground beef with onions, adding garlic salt and pepper to taste. Wash mushrooms and scrape out the black gills. Beat egg into ricotta cheese. Spread a small amount of spaghetti sauce in a large baking dish or shallow roasting pan to prevent sticking. Generously pack each mushroom cap with ricotta mixture and place in the baking dish or roasting pan ricotta side up. Top each cap with a handful of the grated mozarella. Then top each cap with a with a generous amount of the meat/onion mixture. Top each cap with another handful of mozarella. Pour spaghetti sauce over the each cap and around the bottom of the pan. Top with the remaining mozarella cheese. Bake at 350°F for 30-35 degrees. Allow to cool for about 10 to 15 minutes.

  10. I found this one on the net. Fortunately there is a store near me that sells sugar free gummi bears, so I purchase them there.   12. Excellent! Your doing fabulous. I love the Dark chocolate pure delight bars! Yesterday I bought some sugar free marshmallows, melted 2 pure de-lite dark chocolate bars, dipped the marshmallows in and put them on wax paper. I love that chocolate covered marshmallow stuff. Redd
  13. You rock! I try to do the same when I see people looking at the wrong crap. Reminds me of a funny story. Im friends with the owner of a Health club around here, he is a nice guy but stuck in his ways. I joined up with a girlfriend a while back and he asked what I was doing to stay slim, when I told him he said I had it all wrong, being he is a body builder, he put my friend who was looking for counseling on the brocolli, no butter, egg whites, no yolk, broiled skinless chicken breast, diet. I stayed on my broccoli with cheese sauce, my eggs with bacon and sausages, and my chicken breast with the skin on smothered in cream sauce with toasted almond slivers diet, and she lasted about 1 month. Ran into him this last weekend with his brother at the bar. (funnier than crap) his brother was wasted beyond wasted. I asked his brother how much he had to drink he said "3 rums and diet cokes, and Im blitzed!" Then he pointed to His older brother (the body builder who thinks he knows it all) and said "he put me on the Atkins diet" I lost 23 pounds in the last 4 weeks! I smiled at his brother and said "told you so" he said "I know". Now he gives his new clients looking for some diet advise Dr. Atkins new diet revolution. Redd
  14. Congrats Ken! Glad youre doing so well. Alright Swamp you want to know! My starting weight was 180, I was in a size 14. It was the biggest I had ever been. As of this morning I am 132, I currently wear a size 4. It took me exactly 9 months (staying true with the diet) to go from 180, to 123. I have maintained my weight for 3 years. Redd
  15. Well, Swamp wanted me to post my experience with long term low carbing, and why I decided to low carb myself. I have been low carbing for over 3 years, and it started after the birth of my 3rd child. After having a routine checkup with my doc, he found a few things that were disturbing to him. I was 25 years old and after having my bloodwork done he found that my cholesterol was up to 300, very serious, he immediatly put me on lovastatin to try to reduce my count. I was becoming a diabetic, my blood sugar levels were all over the chart. My dad was a type 2 diabetic, and died from complications of his condition after having a double leg amputation. This was frightening for me. He told me I had to go on a LOW FAT diet, and see him in a month. After a month of measuring, watching my intake of fats, watching portions, I went back in. Not only did my cholesterol go up, I gained 7 pounds. He didnt know what to say, but to excersise wich I had been doing already. I went on the Atkins diet right after that. (I didnt tell him either because he is against it all) At my six month check up I had reduced my cholesterol to about 250, my blood sugar levels were great, and I had lost a ton of weight. (I also never took the lovastatin when I started Atkins) 6 more months later I went in again, cholesterol was below 200 now, and I was wearing a size 2. He just about fell over. He asked what diet I was on and started naming off all these low fat diet plans he thought I had been on. I told him that I never took the lovastatin he gave me and that I never was on a low fat diet, and I was on Atkins. He was speechless. I recieved a letter in the mail a week after from him telling me that he was so amazed that he may have to look into low carbing for some of his patients. The trick with low carbing is to always search for new recipes, cause if you are eating the same thing week after week you will never stay on the plan. You also cant deny yourself a cheat once in a while, you will ultimately fail. There are so many people that go on and eat bacon and eggs every day for 2 weeks and then say they cant do it. I would be able to do it either. When you reach your goal your body will let you know, you wont lose anymore. For me that was around 123. I am 5'7''. That was too thin for me anyways, my husband was complaining about my loss of my butt and my chest, he felt like he was having sex with a skeleton. I am at my perfect weight right now, at 130-135.   18. I have been lowcarbing for almost 3 years. I have ooodles and ooodles of recipes. I leave you with one of my favorite shakes 1/4 cup of Splenda 1/4 cup of heavy cream 1/4 cup of cottage cheese 1/4 cup of water 1/4 cup of egg beaters (cause they are pasterized) 1 tsp of vanilla extract 1 scoop of any type of protien powder (you dont have to put this in if you dont want to) 6 ice cubes Blender till smooth......Tastes just like a vanilla shake. Under 6 carbs, induction friendly, great for breakfast. Redd
