  8. does anyone have a straight rear axle and nut? It's for a 99 but I think they're all the same. Willing to trade toilet paper or possibly an intact tool strap.
  9. Smoke test on the sh 847 was successful, the smoke stayed in. Voltage steady at 14.5 headlight off or headlights with high beams on plus 60 watt heated vest. The regulator was barely warm to the touch at 50 degrees ambient temperature. Jack at roadstercycle was great to deal with. highly recommended.
  10. One of the claimed advantages of a series type regulator is reduced stress on the stator. We shall see.
  11. I just spoke to Jack at Roadster cycles and to answer my own question the black wire is an Exciter wire to the Honda regulator and not needed with the sh847 regulator.
  12. Did you make any connection to where the black wire was previously? Looking at the factory wiring diagram it appears the black wire might have something to do with operating the fuel pump.
  13. does anyone have any experience or thoughts regarding the series type voltage Regulators such as the shindengen SH847. Also does anyone know what the black wire on the voltage regulator is for?
  14. I just did that on 2 99 Birds. Remove the windshield and the plastic trim beneath the instrument cluster. there is a zip tie underneath the plastic trim. 1 bike the connector was front and center and easy to get to just in front of the instrument cluster. The other bike the connector was sort of buried over on the left hand side down beside the instrument cluster. it was doable with forceps and needle nose pliers
