  1. The important number you need off the old coil or your manual if you have one is the primary resistance which is either 1.5ohm, 2.2ohm or 3ohm. Get that and you can replace it with another of the same resistance from aftermarket suppliers. Is that the number which is different on the other coil?, if so it wont do you.Is the bike what we call the XS650 over here.
  2. We don't seem to get anywhere near the cupping and wear problems over here that you do with the 020 in the U.S. Seems using the correct type - W on the front and L on the rear - with the higher loading does have a real bearing on it, believe they are not even listed on the U.S. Bridgestone site.
  3. Just make sure they are the 'bird specific ones, W for the front L for the rear, it does make a difference according to people who had the wrong ones on then went to the correct ones afterwards, all to do with the weight rating and abnormal wear. Love mine, good grip wet or dry.
  4. There are 020 'bird specific tyres, the product codes are (off a recent receipt) - front - 1207017ZRBT020W rear - 1805517ZRBT020L Won't go far wrong if you ask for a 58W for the front and 73L for the rear
  5. On my old GS650 it was just the tension of the screw holding the choke lever to the switch assembly and how tight you did it up as to how much friction you got on the lever, is it missing a washer if you can't do it up tight enough?.
  6. Go for 01 onwards, if you're unlucky you could get the wiring loom connector problem that can affect 99 & 00 bikes. From 01 it was changed.
  7. 99 - slightly larger oil and water radiators, HISS key system, reshaped brake and clutch levers 01 - HECS3 Exhaust "cats" fitted as standard on UK/European bikes
  8. BT56 are not a recommended fitment for the 'bird, BT57 are and were an original fitment in some places, check out the link these are the Bridgestone recommended tyres for the 'bird. If I asked for 020's and got 57s instead I wouldn't be very happy and BT14?? on the front. http://www.bridgestone-eu.com/tyreselector...+%28%2797%3E%29
  9. The actual axle thread diameter is 18mm but metric spanner/socket sizes are the width across the nut flats which as Jet Pilot says is 27mm and 22mm for the chain side. FWIW you probably will never need an 18mm spanner or socket as it isn't used in standard engineering, that's why some smaller sets miss it out, but saying that there's always the smart ass manufacturer who tries to fuck you up and add one
  10. Must use different moulds or whatever Pete, just checked my "Made in Japan" 020's and they don't have DOT on them at all.
  11. Date of manufacture marking is not required legally on a tyre, at least not in the UK. Different countries specify different markings, check out the manufacturers website most have a tyre ID picture that will tell you if the date is on their tyres.
  12. Same as any spacer it will raise the back and give quicker steering, whether it suits the bike or rider is another thing. Get him to have a look at http://www.hondax11.com/ they will have more idea as there aren't many/any X11 owners on here
  13. Sorry, don't know what you mean then unless it's some kind of undertray which makes it look longer as it tidies the rear end up.
  14. Take it you mean a Duck Tail Don't know who does them over there but Jaws sells them for the XX and ships them if you can't find one local. http://www.jaws-motorcycles.com/bird.htm
  15. They're just an expanding rubber bung so they will fit the XX if you take the internals for the standard bar ends out but... they are only alloy so there will be no weight to them and you will get worse vibes through the bars through lack of damping. I did some experimenting, made some plain alloy bar ends to fit the XX and they were next to useless, too vibey. Next set I made I drilled a load of holes in the underneath and filled them with molten lead, made them nearly as heavy as the standard ends and they worked fine. Unless you adapt the ones on ebay, add some weight somehow, I don't think they will be very good.
  16. Sorry  , mines just in the bike, knew yours was in a car that's why I mentioned it.
  17. I've got EBC friction plates and uprated springs, only because it was cheaper than buying OEM. No discernable difference in the clutch pressure needed still sweet and light, been in 18 months or so,it's fine, it doesn't slip or grab but then again it isn't being raced in a car. I only changed mine as part of a few things I messed with because of a shifting problem, if you ask you'll probably find there's a lot of high mileages done on the standard clutch even by the hard rider types, wouldn't be surprised if there was only me that had a new clutch on a standard bike out of the whole board.
  18. oops  I always thought it was carbed, should have checked the spec better and noticed the fitted Power Commander  And to try to make up for up for it, here's Pete's bike on the Avon stand at the bike show this week
  19. Did you ever speak to Pete at Blackbird Spares? he's got a 1200 'bird and should be able to tell you. Think his puts out 176hp at the rear wheel. Email would be best as he's at the Alexandria Palace show each day this week, his bike is on the Avon stand  http://www.blackbirdspares.co.uk/

It's possible and was done 1997-98, this is from the Vand M site, Honda then commissioned them to make the 50 1200cc Anniversary Blackbirds that were sold in the UK, not in quite as high a state of tune as the original.
  21. Haven't got a clue sorry  you'd have to look at other bikes that do have hangers made for them to see if you could make one fit. Mick aka Bezzer
  22. You want to contact Pete at Blackbird Spares as you are in the UK, exclusively bird bits he'll be able to help you out if you need the cam sprockets, very reasonable prices, advice is free and he'll talk all day if you let him  . Nothing but good reports about him. http://www.blackbirdspares.co.uk/
  23. ...but if you want to try Iridium plugs TJ make sure you get the right ones, they are fitted as standard from 01 but these shouldn't be used on 96-00, NGK do a different Iridium one for these bikes that replaces the OEM Platinum. I reckon the only advantage is they are supposed to have double the life of Platinum but over here they are double the price as well, I stick to the standard as I like to change them every year anyway.
  24. I put an EBC clutch and their uprated springs in about 5k ago, never had a problem with it. Somethings wrong somewhere :???: Mine's an FI they don't have the "piano"spring like the carb one does- Have you got the wrong kit ???
  25. Take it you don't want to stop either then  You can't just disconnect/block an odd line and keep the CBS they're all interconnected. You don't want to de-link? so if it is possible you want just the 4 instead of 6 pots on a single rotor :???: It's an accident waiting to happen
