  1. What are you trying to say?

    Exactly what I did say.

My long time friend Pat was here and we started talking about money, he's been broke his entire life.  Mikesail said "a smart man would" and gave some thoughts/advice.  Pat zeroed in on "a smart man would" and took it to mean that Mike was calling him dumb and got a bit shitty about it.  My thought shifted to Mike at that moment "a smart man would notice that Pat's really mad and angling to fight about it".  I've known Pat to be a fighter, not a thinker.  I assume Mike's brain said something to the effect of "there's no reason for this guy to be mad so he's clearly not looking to have a fist fight".  I stayed seated, but prepared to jump in and stop Pat if he crossed the line.  Pat later realized that it was dumb to react the way he did.

The guy who did that seems to not want to give me his colored file.  Also I need to buy some brown filament I guess.

I've seen "skin color" filament, let me know if you need me to go to the 3D print supply store in Compton.

OEM parts should be made by the same company that made them for the assembly line.

"Should" according to you, and they're often not.

I'd never use a rebuilt compressor unless it was the only thing available anywhere.

    I use them almost exclusively.

Nobody I knows warranties parts beyond 12 months.

File that "knowledge" away with all your other nutty knowledge because this is part of the reason I use rebuilt almost exclusively; lifetime warranty on rebuilt vs. 1 year on a new OEM.  And to get warrantee on the OEM you'll probably have to supply proof that the system was cleaned and that the orifice and filter/drier were replaced, probably with OEM only.  Rebuilt always come with the clutch and necessary seals, unlike OEM.

  4. Wow, I didn't know any of that.  Maybe if I worked on cars I'd have a clue.

I've replaced many compressors and clutches, never with OEM, and none have been an issue.  Also, many "OEM" parts for old cars are rebuilt, not new, and could be coming from the same guy who does them for the parts stores.  For the extra money spent you get a Ford box and shorter warrantee.  And you're wrong about the "big cost" of replacing a compressor, assuming yours needs to be replaced.  If yours "tore up" the bulk of the cost will be cleaning and replacing the parts that became contaminated with compressor shrapnel.  Most "failed" Ford compressors I've deal with just needed the clutch adjusted or replaced.

You'd put that on my battery brick, I assume it was you, and I hope that was a sign to take it home because I did.

Just got the rebuild kit for my carbs... the old needles are longer and have a very thin end 1/4 inch or so...

    Normal? Worn? New needles wrong?

Needles are one of the 'voodoo' parts of carbs.  My gut says that the originals would have a smoother/better transition and that you should stick with them unless there's evidence that the new ones are an improvement or that they're needed to work with the new jets.

  7. A friend's parent's oven crapped out so they called a professional, it was deemed unfixable so they ordered a replacement which was just under $3k.  Then the BS started with delays over unavailable models and and it became over $4k.  Then I heard about it.  I ordered an OEM heating element for under $70 and installed it, done.

  8. Oh, and the set-up/aiming process is a joke too.  He had to do a bunch of math to figure out which piece of dirt to throw it down onto because, get this...the stupid thing needs to be pointed toward the sky!  Not down, not sideways, the front has to face upward!!!  Stupid technology.

Nothing against Elon, but aside from having issues finding a spot for the dish (the reason I didn’t go with it before),

Yea, it's fucking nuts.  Carlos brought his fucking starlink to my house and hogged up almost 2 square feet of my dirt with it.  Then I stupidly decided to move it all by myself and damn near threw out my back, I can almost guarantee that monstrosity weighs over 5 lbs.

  10. Mine is sometimes covered, mostly to protect whatever's living in it.  Surprisingly, I don't use 2x4s or other stuff to create a pitch, turns out that just raising the tongue does that.  Crazy huh.  I'm not a pro like Mike so I don't use paracord, just whatever junk string/rope/wire is laying around.

That's supposedly the right way to do it, but fuck all that work, throw down a sheet of plywood and a couple screws.

I used a thin piece of shit wood I had laying around (osb I think) on mine as a quick & temporary fix around 15 years ago.  It's ugly, but holding up to the shit ton of scrap metal I have in it.
