  1. I've NEVER installed a dented filter. I have dropped MANY! I remember an article on cars that stated a dinged oil filter could actually flutter and rupture where the dent was. I dont know if its even as possible as hitting the lotto, but....... filters are cheap. I however wouldnt reccommend HI-filtro
  2. Hey I got those same pliers. Nothing helpful to add.
  3. I start mine and get it warmed up at least bi-weekly, had no problems, no additives. below zero here at times.
  4. Stock 20bulb led replacement, plug and play $8 each at Autozone. They also have for turn signals, but you have to replace your relay with a digital. Under lights have integraded turn/brake led's. $20 off ebay, another $20 for bulbs. I also have turn signal led's mounted under the tail, it is visible at night on the swing arm. The brake light put off by these will put your eyes out at night. Pin points a bit, but gives that nice in your face blurr. During the day, not so much. Cant remember the part number, its on the package which number it repaces.
  5. Trade you a 3 set of stock front rotros with loose pins for those 2 front wavies? actually, I'm flat broke, just wanted to fill dead space.
  6. Got you Matt. This really is a sweet ass price on a bike. Hell, I got probably $1500 tied up in her. Thank the local legal system and low economy for the price drop. I will have another, but for right now, the bird is going to stand alone. Thanks everyone. -Shane -Sale pending-
  7. Well, it's been another season. I haven't even ridden this beast for months. Price dropped to $650. Cmon ppl, this bike is worth that. Bump of course
  8. I'm with Hobi on this one. Of course, I loosen the bleeder(s) before I press them in. Opening the bleeders allows the old fluid that may contain particles (gravity takes em to the low spot) to be removed, and makes it easy to press them in. Don't forget to top off with clean fluid. I always flush all the fluid when doing pads. FYI it is recommended to do this on any cars that have ABS systems. Wouldn't want that trash being forced into the little tiny orifices of the Abs block (non serviceable). Don't worry, i imagine only 10% of people that call themselves mechanics actually bother.
  9. Damn, that's a great deal. Somebody buy this bike...............................for their girlfriend!
  10. Read with pride and honor.
  11. It may be shameless, but it aint for myself. Bumpity :icon_hump:
  12. 10k miles on this bike. Selling this for another member here "worm". This bike has been gone thru with a fine tooth comb. I have replaced the fuel filter, flushed both fuel tanks, synched the carbs, adjusted the choke, changed plugs, changed oil, it has 2 new spitfire tires, the front forks have been refilled and sealed, wheel bearing inspected, brakes inspected, stem bearings lubed, drive shaft oil changed, brake system flushed, and just about anything else you can think of. The bike is a little cold natured, but has a new battery, and starts everytime! She's selling because she bought a newer yzf1000, and doesn't need both. The bike will come with saddle bags, cover and highway pegs. All the lights work and I can't think of anything this thing needs, other than ridden. She has the title with no liens, so this thing is ready to go! Worm hopes to get about $2200 out of it, but I imagine she will drop a little for the board members here.
  13. Got my adjustable clutch a while ago from a member here (AWESOME PRICE!!) Since it looks and operates so superbly, it makes my brake lever look like ass! I remember reading about Honda redesigning their stock lever because the wind drag made the brakes apply at speed. My question is this : Do the Pazzo brake levers have this issue w/high speed brake actuation? Going to be a while till I can afford one, but just wanted to know if I could drool w/o worry. Thanks
  14. Leave them installed for say ummmmm about 10yrs. Worked for mine. Dumb ass!
  15. Mine turn too. I believe they are held in place with a rubber sleeve. Can't pull 'em out so no worries!
  16. :icon_lmao: Pretty sure he can do about whatever he wants around here. Don't piss him off. lol!
  17. I use those crimp connectors if there's room. Just peel the plastic off the barrel, crimp the wires and run flux into the connection. Solder the wire in the connector. I use a pocket torch and heat from the bottom, apply solder from the top. If you remember, shrink tube before crimping!(I forget that one sometimes.) Solder isn't supposed to be used as the mechanical connection, so I like to support it with a connector. I have heard that solder breaks over time due to vibration. I have tried electric tape in a bottle, never had much luck. Use 3m super 33+ electrical tape. Do not rely on tape or connectors alone, especially at the lights. The heat and current induce corrosion if you don't do it properly. Solder everytime! If the solder doesn't stick, you aint using enough flux or the solder is too hot and the connection isn't. Just my .02$ Before After. Been 4yrs and no rewiring problems yet. I actually routed the entire harness around the engine to ease in removal later. What a bitch! Took about 15hrs!
  18. What is the amperage use on the hid vs standards? Also, do they seem to get any hotter?
  19. I'll be buying 1 in standard production. I am worried about the size, so unfortunately I can't help with the group buy. So I will need 2 Patches and 1 zipper.
  20. Dibs, I got eleven dollars and no cents. We are talking U.s. dollars? Pretty ballsy putting your phone # up with this group!
  21. Seriously, if she is forcing you to give up something you love to do. If she doesn't want to participate that is her choice, but I would not give up a ride for a nagging wife. Let her know you would like to have her ride along, and if she doesn't she can be supportive or at least silent about something you enjoy and makes you a better man at home. +1 Thanks everyone for the support. We (old lady and I) had a little sit down, and I managed to keep the bike, so long as a get an "oldwing" next. I love my bird, and my attitude has been so shitty, I guess she has finally realized how much I really enjoy the bike. Must be lees enjoyable on the back seat? So, false alarm. thansa again, the bird is now NOT up for adoption/sale. Now if I can get Nexxt plans to get going in the household.
  22. Looks to me that the chart shows that sport bikes have a consistently shorter stop. Although, it also seems that perhaps the distance is more having to do with the exact bike design, rather than being able to really prove one kind is better at braking than another. I'd have to stay on the fence with this one. Too hard to prove either way. But I do know this........The blackbird LOOKS a lot sexier whether you are stopping or going! The shortest stop I have ever seen was on a Harley. Course, it never went, so stopping was not a problem!!
  23. I would like to see the real world testing specs on this one
  24. I practice panic slows from 100 down to about 60mph all the time.I think it's kind of thrilling when you get that high speed braking wobble! Usually the local law enforcement reminds me to practice, when I see them pop up over a hill top. I practice the 30-0mph stops frequently, that's why I am not so impressed with how long the bird takes to stop (compared to my old gsxier 600). What really messes with my head is trying to learn the skid point, yet the LBS won't let me! :icon_wall: As far as four fingers, I have grown accustomed to a 2 finger grip. I learned the hard way when I got my rm250! Seems to me the Bird just weighs a lot and will take more getting used to. As far as pulling until the lever hits grip . . . . . you got something wrong man! Never measured stopping distances, but I'd imagine the specs are already in writing somewhere. I could care less of the actual distance, so long as it's a couple inches before that car!
