  1. After multiple hernia operations about the midsection, I lost all semblance of a six pack like I used to have. They used lots of mesh and some fancy xray later led them to tell me I would return to be fixed later down the road. Great huh?! Anyhow, I say this because I have babied my stomach muscles for about 6 years now. With normal workouts that mostly exclude working my abs, I have noticed the muscles are slowly building without being targeted. I type all this because I belive you can gain muscle and strength w/o ANY soreness. However, I see that the muscles I target and get sore, are building faster. No research to back me on this, but I'd imagine that if you are working out but not getting sore, you are probably toning and building very slowly (but safely). Personally, I prefer a lighter workout, so I can continue that pace the next day. If I overdue it and get sore, the temptation to skip a day is too great and the losses exceed the gains from overdoing it. Hope that helped. If not, at least it helped pad my post count. -hooplehead out
  2. Because you're in Denver. I saw it a while ago, but making an offer on a bike thats more than 1000 miles away. . . That and maybe because the economy is a tad flat and bikes don't sell in the winter.
  3. ooh, I NEED that bike! Trade ya a suzuki c50 for her. Promise to wear as many tires out as quickly as Pirelli can sell em to me . I just moved to the best riding (including blue ridge), and dumbly sold my xx for the cruiser. I'm completely serious about the trade. Mayhaps mine'll sell in time to trade ya cash, a suzuki takes no less garage floor than the lovely bird. Good luck on the sale, great looking bike!
  4. yes it is. sometimes referred to as a volusia 800. http://asheville.craigslist.org/mcy/3561362960.html craigslist ad. Man i hate CL, but I hate not having a bird. much more...
  5. Bought this bike, thinking it would be nice to grow up and get a cruisier. Lo and behold, I cannot and will not feel safe in a laid back rider position. This was my first "cruiser" and will be my last. Frankly, I dont know how people ride like that and feel safe on the street. Lesson learned and as always, itll cost me. So, Im selling this bike for $5500 lowered to $4500 or trade on a '02 or newer bird, or a yamaha 250 wrx supermoto either in great condition. I really shouldnt have sold my last bird. This bike is in great condition. It has aftermarket K&N exhaust pipes that have been very well wrapped. It has a memphis shades windshield with quick mount. I installed a BRAND NEW Mustang seat with backrest (less than 5hrs on the seat and cost me a mint!) w/xtra bracket (1" back) I also mounted 2 brand new pirelli tires with tubes and rim protectors, less than 200 miles on them! It has cruise control. A set of dandy leather saddle bags. Nope, none of that studded leather crap, good ole smooth leather. Also am including a rear chrome rack. Sissy Bar and pad new spark plugs installed for the hell of it, the old ones looked perfectly as they should. Installed a set of forward controls (2" forward on running boards and brakes/shifter). 2" bar risers and stainless braided cables for throttle (no cheap shit) Fork wind deflectors (no cheap shit) I have the stock seat and also highway bars (wont work with forward controls). I have a manual, the metal side brackets for the saddle bags(i dont use em), an oil filter, and a matching dot approved (however i wont!) helmet. I mean damn, look at that badass helmet!!! Also, I only run non-ethanol hi-test on my bikes and they NEVER sit for more than 2 weeks. I HATE flat spots on tires and old gasoline. I dont tolerate oil leaks so this bike has none. Basically, it is in great condition. Everything added to this bike was added with utmost care by me, a perfectionist. There has been NOTHINg done to the bike that would render it unable to return to exact stock condition. No cuts or holes or filing or cracks etc. . . Actually, Ive owned this bike since august of 2012 and it has seen very little miles under my butt. As all my bikes, I bought it, went thru it with a comb and spent over $1200+ when i got it, not counting labor. The seat wasnt cheap, neither were the tires. It also has a sissy bar. It is setup for two-up cruising with saddle bags and sissy bar, or it can be easily changed to the smooth fender look for a solo cruise. As I said, I bought this bike thinking it was time to grow up and rid myself of the blackbird. It is a beautiful bike, but Im just not going to grow up yet, and the rider position scares me on my narrow curvy backroads. 20+ years in upright position was my folly. I hate losing money like this, but I'd hate to drop it and lose more. Serious inquiries only. Heres a couple pics and I can get more if theres any questions. Thanks for looking! I am now in North western North Carolina, asheville area. . . . . . .. . .
  6. Thanks everyone! My wife and I have been fighting with the mortgage company to buy a home In North Carolina for about 2 months now. I keep paying earnest money for extensions, and am now a little pissed we have over $2000 in a purchase that will be defaulted if the bank doesnt finish in 10 days. This aint is even counting the down payment and all thats due AFTER signing. For once I actually have EVERYTHNG they need and enough cash to pay for it. Alas, money isnt enough to buy a house, it takes hopes and dreams too i guess. Sad to get rid of the bird, but for now we needed a bike with better mileage and a tad easier for commute. i will get a FI bird again soon Im sure of it. Hopefully my finances will hold up until this is finished, then we can evaluate where it left us. Im also hopeing the food stamp office wont be getting an application in our name soon. haha At least I may break the '1 speeding ticket a yr' cycle Ive had for the last 6! Or perhaps the tickets will just have another name of bike on them? I'll pretend Im still cool, and put a bird sticker on my suzuki..
  7. SOLD THIS EVENING FOR $2800! Last day before I was going to keep. Hope she takes good care of her new owner! Sad to see it go, yet going to buy a new seat for the cruiser to ease the pain.
  8. Sold or not, this thing is off the market by august 1st. Craigslist is the biggest phishing whore on the planet, cant go any lower than $2800 and respect myself. Honestly, if she makes it back into my garage for August, I'll gladly wear out a couple more pair of diablos on her. Great price on a perfectly running machine. Last call. . .
  9. Bumpity, tired of the inane craigslist phishing and bullshit. $2800 cant really go any lower! Any takers? clean as a whistle
  10. Craigslist ad. Moving soon, hope it sells. http://tricities.craigslist.org/mcy/3127405898.html
  11. DID zmv2 25k or when you hear it making crunches beside a wall. Usually i notice accelerated stretch towards the end, but link binds are usually first. I dont know how long a chain can go, I always err'd on the side of new farkles asap!
  12. Another update. These dang things are still on there with NO bubbles. 110deg today and i parked in the sun, still works great. Only thing i notice is my pants are starting to slightly round the edges, but definately barely noticeable. Selling the bird, so last update for these from me.
  13. Throttlemiester i had found a comfy place in the local landfill. Bought a nifty vista cruise from some board member here. After the break in period, why use anything else? If i had to do it over again, I'm fairly certain I would chuckle and look right over this contraption. Looks kinda cheesy and not as easy to use as the good ole vista. Maybe carry one in a side bag, so I can loan it or sell it at profit, to a rider on the road. But maybe this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread?
  14. Damn redbird! So, how many bikes does this make for you? About a jajillion?? Looks freakin fun, and for that price how could it not be sold fast!! We all know redbirds ummm well, he aint lying about this anyow! Good luck on the sale! All buyers can be assured of a great deal on this one! Sounds like the perfect answer to Not wanting to risk your street bike for a weekend on the track.
  15. Bumpity bumpity! Thanks 97! Does this mean that once i sell my bike, Im not deserving of lurking with the cool bike owners? I really dont want to be a hooplehead with a bunch of new assholes that own suzukis. Surely theres posers here i can blend in with? $3000 This thing has got to go before I move. I hear the hastle of craigslist calling already. btw: My beast avatar is still alive and kickin. Near blind, stupid, awake 3 hrs a day and rotting from the inside! perfectly normal 10yr old bulldog.
  16. Selling my beloved bird. It has just under 30,000 miles. I have meticulously kept it, added peg lower brackets, touring windshield, vfr bars, sargeant seat, led brake/signal lighting, tank grips, Engine Ice (never did get hot, but now cooler in traffic) and vista cruise. There are NO issues mechanically with this bike. It has good pirelli diablos for both tires, a chain with less than 2k miles on it. The brake pads are all in good shape. The cam tensioner is new generation, and not a single oil leak or missing part. I still have the stock bars and seat pan. I'll include the FACTORY service manual and any other small random BS ive collected. I think I changed the front sprocket for lower hwy revs, but also have the original somewhere. As I recall, the front forks have been re-oiled with a lighter weight(forks have never leaked). I also replaced the front rotors because i THOUGHT there was a tiny excess slack on the pins when cold. Probably wasnt. Honestly, the bike had the scuffs on the left case cover when i bought it. I think the prev. owner's 3yr old had something to do with it? It obviously wasn't crashed to cause it. I would have replaced the part, but just deemed it not worth the effort yet. A little gloss black, good to go. You can ride this beast at 30mph or 120mph with no hands, and she tracks straight as an arrow. I wouldnt advise over 110mph no-handed untucked (wind and all). I have the original windscreen and the original rear shock spring; The bike has a spring from the honda 1000, at a slight softer rate. The bike has had oil changes at 2,000 mile intervals. Valvoline oil everytime, and superclean chain lube. Also have a light weight cover that fits very well with no tears, i'll include. Since I balanced the carbs every year for shits and gigles, I'll toss in the homeade (badass!!) balance tool I use. Looks redneck, works like a damn dream!! This Bike hasnt EVER had any ethanol gasoline left in it. Here in my neck of the woods, I can still buy premium non-ehtanol, and always have for the bike. I bought a new battery before I had any issues out of the old. Maintained to the point that I havent ever had to hook up the battery maintainer or charger, and have NEVER allowed the tires to get flat spots from using the side stand overnight. All cables and brakes work perfectly, and this thing never sat for over 10days. Gotta run it around the block in december if you want everything to work in june! The bad news: One winter morning the bike fell over on its kick stand. There was minor damages to the right fairing only. It has since been repaired and repainted with a flat black look. The repairs is barely noticeable on close inspection. No other parts have been damaged. I also have a couple spare fairing pieces i never needed to use. I bought a longer range motorcycle and have to make room for it, so sadly after so many adrenaline filled years, the Blackbird has got to go. I prefer someone come ride this bike home, strapping a bird to a trailer is difficult at best. And most recent pics with my new bike and auto in the mix.... Gotta pretend I can afford them both while i have the chance. aahh memories.. *NO the front tire aint cupped and my diablos NEVER have!* :icon_snooty:
  17. Ride faster, the wind will help take the weight of your hands.
  18. Good to hear, DAMN that was fast. I also recieved the compensation today. Please let me know when you get that thing on.
  19. EXACTLY!! I get about 100miles on the first 1/3 tank and about 50 miles on the last 2/3rds. I just use my trip odo. ANALOG odo that is, doesnt the digi trip meter have more than 1 tracker?
  20. step#1, (and new plugs at 11k)? Hmmmm.. on a bird so closely maintained it has a rusty tank and fork leak. Hmmmm... Wouldnt lean towards poor fuel on either a carbd or efi bird for a "no turn over" condition. Poor running or wont start, but not this description. Dragging the birds tire when slipping the clutch in lower gears is normal, its just as much the cylinder volume, as it is the compression. Arent birds like 10:1, i'd have to look. Im mostly an auto technician, but investigate #1 and be sure to look for ANY signs of water buildup. New plugs should look BRAND NEW STILL! If they do, sounds like a bum starter to me, or perhaps the wiring to it. perhaps supplement your starter signal wire (be sure to unhook the bird from the wire your adding 12+ to) and that would narrow it to the starter or the wiring up to it. Trans problems would more than likely exhibit themselves as you rode. BUT, im not a bird pro, perhaps theres a clutch part to the starter im unfamiliar with. Just my 2cents....
  21. I hope your not right on this one. Its the exact length of my stock bird chain, and as long as an /inner and outer link/ count as one....its all there. It was purchased as a 130, and cut down to match the bird chain. The detail i didnt notice is its a 520 not 530 type. Besides, a little jb weld on those splices..... good as new!
  22. An update on the stomp pad. Still stickin strong, no bubbles. Lovin the medium grip it offers. Definite win.
  23. Got sent the wrong damn chain for my bike. Cost me about $180 shipped and now it cant be returned. So, I have a useless NEW chain and a bike that wont roll. Anyone have a bike that uses this size? 520DID zvm2 120 Its still in the box and I have the master link still in its package. Hoping to get about $100 shipped from it, but I'll entertain any other offers. Thanks
