uhuhuhuh Hey beavis, he said slippery when wet. That's cool
  3. How big of stuff will you be able to chrome? No swingarms or wheels, just small stuff?
  4. This might be a stupid question, but, won't the chrome on your brake rotors reduce your braking power? Looks good    plenty of bling

    Brakes & Tires

I'm runnin Galfer green pads front and rear on my bird. Love em. Just put them on at christmas, so I don't know how long they last yet.
  7. So, a "MAS" shock would lower the bird about 1 1/2". Interesting tidbit for someone looking to lower the bike without using an aftermarket lowering link.
  8. Florida ain't the SOUTH, it's a YANKEE state. No accent or nothing. The SOUTH ends in Georgia
  9. The compression damping is too stiff. It doesn't let the tire track on the ground on large bumps and wants to move the bike and rider up. On some aftermarket shocks, you have seperate valving for slow speed and high speed damping, meaning that you have an adjustment for sharp bumps (high speed) and normal movement in turns and hills (slow speed). All the spring does is hold the bike up and give resistance to compression.

    TALKIN TURBO

I was going to put nitrous on the bird this winter when "life got in the way" and I bent a rod in my truck. Now all the fun money is going into the have to fix it category.

    TALKIN TURBO

eliXXir, weren't you going to Seb's to try to break his dyno sometime soon? Really hope you can bust that 500 mark and shut some people up.
  12. You could just leave it off and save some more weight. 2 bolts and 2 minutes and it is back on to work on the bike. That's how I do it
  13. Try keeping the tank full in the winter. Less air = less condensation.

  15. :50cal: :flame: :guns: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I thought this thread was dead long ago
  16. You could get the 4.6 in that truck. It would look about stock. The 97 is the first of the "aerodynamec" body style. Oh, the 5.0 will bolt up to the trans, the 4.6 or 5.4 won't.
  17. Well, the upgrades I was planning on doing on the bird are giong to have to wait a while. I have a 97 Ford F-150 with the 4.2 V6 and 5 speed. I have bent a rod in it due to a leaking intake manifold. I have decided to junk the V6 and go with a V8. 5.0 HO out of a mustang to be exact. It is going to be a pain in my ass to do this, but I think it will be worth it. The 302 was not offered in this body style, so a lot of fabrication and wiring the computer is going to be in order. This will be the only one of it's kind around here. Damn, I love being different from the croud. That's probably why I bought the bird.
  18. These are the best feeling pads I have ever run on any bike. Good linear feel cold or hot and no "warm up" time. Very impressed. Highly recommend them.
  19. I spoke with NOS yesturday and they offer no dry system. They don't advocate the use of a dry system from a fueling standpoint. $658 for the fogger system and about $300 for a good progressive controller. $1200 for pistons and rods and $400 for a billet clutch basket. So for about $3000 I should be making some good HP numbers. The turbo route sounds like a good alternitave to the nitrous and is probably easier on parts. Time to get the calculator and thinking cap on.
  20. S....W....E......A......T your ass off
  21. Direct port wet shot (snot) is what I am leaning towards($650), mainly from a driveability standpoint. The pc would run extra rich at 100% throttle all the time whether the Nitrous is applied or not. A lot of people around here run the dry shot, but the serious runners go with the wet. I would guess that 50 - 70 horse would be the max on the stock cast pistons. Any more juice and I would have to upgrade to forged right? So I am either going to shoot the bike with nitrous and drop it a couple inches or repaint the bird in black cherry metalic with custom chrome xx badges  in the spring. Maybe both if the wife can sell enough houses
  22. A question for you Nitrous gurus. On a dry shot of nitrous, does the stock computer retard the timing enough for a 50 horse shot? And if I aim the nozzle at the air temp sensor, will it richen the mixture up enough? I am thinking about a PC2 as well. If not on the nos, will the mixture be too rich at WOT if I dyno tune the mixture with nos at 100% throttle? I am considering a powercommander and a dry shot or for about the same price a wet shot. In my automotive experience, I have always preferred a wet shot, but on a bike a dry shot seems simpler.
  23. Looks good Joe!! I'm in the process of polishing my wheels up right now. I might go on to all the visible aluminum stuff in the future. GO NOLES!!!!!!

    Speed Question

15% off with a 1 tooth drop in the front don't sound bad. I guess I was doing about 160. Anyone GPS a 1 tooth down bird for top end? I would guess the top speed isn't that much slower than stock gearing being as the reduced gearing puts the bike in more of the peak powerband at high speed. 175 mph is probably topped out for a geared down bird.
  25. How much is the XX's speedo off at high speed? 5-6%? I have dropped 1 tooth on front and was racing a hopped up GSXR 1100. He got me in the 1/4  but I passed him doing an indicated 190 mph  , and it acted like it could go a little more but I let off. So is my speedo giving me about a 11% higher speed than I was actually going? Was I actually going about 170?
