    VFR Bars

I have VFR bars on top of GenMar risers and there's plenty of room with the 2001 OEM windscreen. I do have longer lines however since I de-linked the brakes and installed a slightly longer lines at that time.
  2. Pilot Roads Over 9,000 miles and there's still almost 4/32nds of tread on the rear tire and not even a hint of cupping on the rear.

I've always understood that Speed Bleeders won't work on a dry system so... will you need to keep the OEM nipples handy in the event that you ever change out the brake lines?
  5. Why screw around with aux lighting that doesn't do shit? :?: I currently use PIAA 910s with BLM Accessories brackets. Since I don't have a current photo of them on my bike, here's the ones that Warchild used to use which are 100% identical to my setup. http://superblackbird.com/3rdGenPIAA.cfm For the ultimate... here's the setup that Warchild uses on his FJR http://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=37 Anything other than HID lights to replace the OEM H7s or one of these two setups seems inadequate.
  6. In order to save myself all sorts of effort, I thought that I'd check with the list to see if I could get an answer to these questions since I'm certain that collectively, every one of these combinations has been tried already... What happens to performance AND mileage if I do each of the following: stock air filter, stock pipes and PCII (stock map) stock air filter, Micron slip-ons, and PCII (stock map) stock air filter, Micron slip-ons K&N, stock pipes K&N, stock pipes, and PCII (stock map) K&N, Micron slipons K&N, Micron slip-ons, and PCII (stock map) Side note: with PCII I will always get a puff of smoke from the pipes under heavy acceleration. This is true with stock pipes, Micron slip-ons, stock air cleaner, or K&N. Seems that the PCII causes the bike to run a bit rich? The inside of the pipes are fairly sooty. I changed the plugs recently and the old ones looked exactly like they were supposed to look. Thanks,
  7. Absolutely the best shit that I've ever used to polish metal on my bikes http://badtothebom.com/id19.htm
  8. You just start with the bike on the side stand and then lower the centerstand down with your right foot. Straighten the bike while continuing to hold the centerstand down with your foot. Gently rock the bike from left to right to make certain that the bike is centered on the stand. Put your full weight on the stand (sort of stand on the centerstand) while lifting on the grab handle and the bike will come up VERY easily on the centerstand. It takes almost no strength if done correctly
  9. I agree with the Pilot Road tires. I'm approaching 8,000 miles and still have 4/32nds in the center of the rear tire. Had Beetle Bags until the bike hit the ground. I switched to Givi when I learned that Corbin WOULD NOT sell a single replacement Beetle Bag. If I need to replace one bag, I would need to pay for two. Also, when I bought my Beetle Bags, I paid $699. I believe that they now cost $999. With my SW Motech rack and Givi bags, I can have all the carrying capacity that I need or I can make the bike look almost completely stock in under 1/2 minute. Welcome
  10. What's the correct part number for the fork tube??
  11. I'm barely into the green at 23,600 miles thanks to my Scottoiler and Dual Injector. Hardly ever needs adjustment either.
  12. NOPE... even though three new seals have been installed under warranty and it still leaks, Honda won't replace the fork tube (which is not damaged) I suppose that I should just order a new one from Ron Ayers. Which part number do I need for a 2001??? Thanks
  13. One of my fork seals has been replaced three times under my extended warranty. The third one began leaking within 50 miles and the dealership is now going to contact Honda and try to have the fork tube replaced. Although it is now completely clean and smooth, the new seal leaks anyway. The Service Manager suggested that occasionally, they see a fork tube that is not perfectly smooth and has the slightest wave to it. When that happens, the seal will always seep a small amount even though there is no damage to the tube or to the seal. I'm waiting to hear how it turns out
  14. I found a very small pit in one of my fork tubes yesterday. Is there some way of smoothing it out to prevent it from causing my fork seal to leak? Also, is there some type of gaiters that are available to protect these tubes in the future? Last summer I had to replace one tube because of rock damage and I'd like to prevent it from happening again.
  15. The EX250 is an excellent motorcycle and one of the few 250s that can go 100 mph. The thing gets something like 70 mpg and is damn smooth when the valves are properly adjusted (pretty easy job) and the carbs are in sync. In the last Iron Butt Rally... a guy riding one of these bikes took 12th place or something like that. Beat the shit out of all sorts or riders on Goldwings, BMWs, ST1300s, etc
  16. Could be a leaking water pump. Honda water pumps have what they call a "Telltale Hole" at the bottom of the water pump body. Check that for signs of mechanical seal coolant leakage. If that mechanical seal is where the leak is... you'll need to replace the water pump assembly. Sometimes, Honda water pumps will fail if the wrong type of anti-freeze was ever used. Otherwise... look for a damaged radiator hose or loose hose clamps
  17. http://www.superblackbird.org/forum/showth...p?threadid=6542 This should provide a great deal of information about vibrations. There has been a lot of discussion about this issue among the Brits and it's interesting that it's hardly ever been discussed on this forum. There is often a slight vibration in the grips of my 2001 which can cause a mild tingle in my hands. This has been true whether I'm using the OEM, Pro Grip Gel or BMW Touring grips. I also have a Throttlemeister installed.
  18. I've found that it's easier to remove the entire rear section than to remove the saddlebags and the rear fender. HOWEVER... I've screwed with those rear tires enough to learn that it's far easier to leave the job of removing that rear tire to someone with the correct lift that allows removing it without having to remove any of the plastic. Thankfully, the rear tires can last close to 25,000 miles and don't need to be changed too often.
  19. I just did. Damn... that was several days ago and I'd completely forgotten that you'd already mentioned the mounting location. Of all the things that I've lost over the years... I think that I miss my mind the most.
  20. I don't understand what you mean about aiming being low and moving the beam upward. I'm glad to know that the ballasts actually can fit into the front cowl.
  21. No other place for the ballasts than under the seat on FI models? What type of wiring is actually running between the ballasts and bulbs? Anything special or just normal wire that can be soldered, heat shrinked, and loomed? I've read about mrjung.com on the ST.N list and someone there refers to him as Mr. Junk. Obviously, many people don't agree. Thanks for posting the photos.
  22. Who sells the best HID conversion kits to use in motorcycles? I know that Warchild picked his up from Baja Designs but does anyone else have experience with other suppliers? How difficult was the installation and how close to the lights did the Ballast need to be? Where did you mount it? Thanks,
