Pretty sure I have solved the K&N now. After 100K, I deceided it was time to change out the float needles. Figured they were well worn. Anyways in doing so I checked the float height as I went along. Got to the second one and discovered they were different. Never dawned on me to check them before when I was sorting it all out before. Started over with the largest setting. Got all 4 at the same setting. Put it all back together. What happened? It was running a tad rich. Flat spots, not bad. But noticable. Even on roll on. A little popping on the Exhaust. Tell tale signs of being rich. Not blowing black smoke out the exhaust. So, I need more air or drop the mains. Didn't feel like dropping the mains. So A K&N was in order. Finially got a chance today to install and test ride. Pulls a bit harder than before. No flat spots. Either full twist or roll on. I am pretty sure the elusive K&N is solved for the carbie.
Here's my details. Might change slightly for different exhausts. Mine is the Two Bro's Shotgun. I am also at sea level here in Florida. Reduce your mains 1 point for every 1,000 ft above sea level.
Factory Pro kit.
165 mains (all 4)
Needles on 2nd clip from top. With 1 shim installed.
Float height set at 9/16ths. (all 4)
Hope it works for anyone as well it is working for me. Thought I'd share my findings.
