  1. XL Joe Rocket Jacket. Velcro is very sticky; zipper works perfectly; no scrapes, tears, etc. I added panels of 3M reflective fabric for after-dusk visibility. Jacket stays cool in hot weather. Complete w elbow, shoulder and back armor. Hand warmer pockets and breast pocket for wallet or phone. I decided to go w higher viz hot weather jacket. Sold to Toxxic; sorry for not updating the posting sooner. Mike
  2. RE: Having them stick out a little further: I had delrin shrooms that stuck out about 1.5 inches. I went for a slow speed crash and well, the stainless bolt and shroom sheared off and broke the fairing when they came off. "Bummed" is an undertatement. Maybe locating John's shrooms a bit lower on the bike - but that would require drilling, etc, but then you'd be sure they'd shield the cycle pretty well. ? Mike
  3. Way to go, guys! This gives me some good alternatives to consider. Re: upgrading the fence - I guess that would cost a couple hundred bucks, and I'd still have dust everywhere. Plus, I was considering making a zero clearance insert - when I realized the plate is exactly that - a steel plate with almost no thickness, making the insert a difficult upgrade. I DID take a stab at home-made dust collection - cardboard sheets on the base with a port for my ShopVac - and still - lots of dust bec the saw isn't made for dust collection. there are big gaps between the base and the table top, etc. I'll look at the Ryobi, Delta and Grizzly. Mike
  4. The Delta table saw that I use now has a crappy (inexact and not reliably square) fence, as well as no dust collection. I'm looking to upgrade my small basement based shop and spend under $1000 (shipping, etc included in the $1K) for a new/replaqcement table saw. I don't do much with full sheets of plywood, but instead work with smaller projects. I've read some good things about a Jet model (http://www.woodcraft.com/Catalog/ProductPage.aspx?prodid=24158), but I think some of you XXers may have experiences that could help me make a final decision. Are there other models or brands out there that I should be looking at?
  5. What's a brand / trade name for this stuff? Are the directions self explanatory? Thanks, Mike What's a brand / trade name for this stuff? Are the directions self explanatory? Thanks, Mike
  6. Went for a low speed slide and am looking to minimize the cost of the fix-up. Will the lower left fairing and stator cover from an '03 0r 02 or 01 fit my 2000? Thanks, team. Mike
  7. I'm looking for a stator cover... for my 2000 bird. Does not need to be perfect condition; the heavily scraped one on it now really looks bad. Thanks in advance for your help, sources w best prices, etc. Mike 610 731 5408 mobile
  8. Can these be attached with SW Motech attachments? I have an E52 on the back attached w SWMotech, and might like to do the same w side bags. The Motech hdwe for the box on the back is great. My soft GIVI bags have gotten very faded and are beginning to look pretty worn. Mike
  9. When SlowRide and Brett helped me install HIDs, we had a lot of the tupperware off - so Steph suggested we run the wires up and mount the Datel between the top of the dashboard and the tinted windscreen. It's nice there because it's always shaded - so it can be easily read in open sunlight. Steph recommended (as well as supplied) velcro ands it's held nicely for 1+ year. Thanks again Steph! Can post photos later in the week. You get the idea Mike
  10. Hey bro, I never claimed that I split the atom or anything! Send a diagram and I'll get going !! Thanks!
  11. In the process of splicing aftermarket (Motrax from CycleGear) rear turn signals into the wiring of my Clear Alternatives integrated LED rear light, I realized how much wasted space there is inder the rear cowl. So...now I store my tire flat plug kit - THANKS HOBI, and stripped down compressor. Here's the stripped compressor and tire plugger kit: and the plugger inside the rear cowl with the stripped compressor on top - held w 14 guage wire on rt and bicycle toe clip on left: and making the most of the space: a set of inexpensive wrenches and a set of allens: And the bike from the back:
  12. Exc Condition X-11 helmet. $375 - now $340 plus actual shipping. Gray, w some additional refelctive tape that I addded for improved visibility (easily removed, no residue) W Breath guard, chin guard, no visor. Can attach a used clear visor for $10. Helmet is in excellent condition; all vents and ports work perfectly. Call Mike 610 731 5408
  13. I was sure you'd steer me right. Many thanks. Mike
  14. Team, I changed out the tail light on my 2000 XX with an integrated Clear Alter. that I got from John01. Using it, I eliminated my stock rear turn signals. The directional signals in the CA now flash faster, but I think that might get more notice from goof-ball cagers, and I like it. Anyway, I'm thinking of buying a set of aftermarket LED rear turn signals - for more visibility of the turn signals. This way - from the rear - the CA will flash - and so will these added rear turn signals. The question: if I add a set of LED rear turn signals, will this further accelerate the bike's flash rate? I'm not too good with ohms, volts and the like, but any ideas you may have will be a big help to me. Thanks, Mike
  15. I used a similar attachment to a Dremel - and it worked very well. Careful, it will grind tile as well, but be sure to wear hearing and eye protection.
  16. It's ironic that the model is called "Storm" then, isn't it?
  17. So, do you have the light bar come on when you brake? or as a running light?
  18. I wrote down the following "303 Aerosol Protectant" in a notebook during the past few months, though I'm not sure why. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is this the best alternative for using on automotive interiors, motorcycle seats, rubber, vinyl, etc? I don't trust just reading the website that comes up when I google it...but you guys and gals will know for sure. Maybe there's better stuff out there that you use? https://secure25.securewebsession.com/allro...03-products.htm Mike
  19. I sent an email to hidseller@hotmail.com and he (Greg) replied that a package - consists of 2 sets of ballasts and bulbs for $170-$190, depending on color temp, and method of pmt. Is there anything I'd want to ask hime before pulling the trigger? Tech specs, brands, any reason why I'd have trouble installing, etc??? Thanks, team. Mike
  20. Is there anything I should do to the new chain while it's off the bike? It's easier to clean/treat off the cycle...Or just lube it once it's installed? Not going to start a "lube war" or anything...but I'm going with Blue label PJ1 Mike
  21. I crudely connected a DATEL to the battery directly - and I turn it on only when riding. Nice info to have at all times. Anyone have a better way to see the output than "stuck to the triple clamp"? I was thinking of cutting a hole in the plastic, but haven't found a great-visibility location. Suggestions? Mike
  22. Will it matter what kind of solder I use? I have 60/40 and 100% tin. Either sound appropriate?
  23. I know that you need to make better connections when splicing wires in a dc application than in an ac setting. I'm wondering if using the red butt splices that I have requires also using some conductor like dielectric grease? It seems that just using the splices and crushing each end isn't making a good connection. Any ideas? I'm trying to get my tail lights straightened out for an inspection tomorrow AM. Thanks, M
  24. Thanks for the photos...now I think I get it ! Eureka !
  25. Hey Cabinfever, I wouldn't mind seeing a picture. Thanks!
